info for smartwatches

I’m not sure if this is the right section.
What do you think about these smartwatches?

• Garmin Venu 2
• Garmin Forerunner
• OPPO Watch X
• Huawei WATCH GT5
• Amazfit T-Rex Pro
• Samsung Watch7
• Samsung Watch6 Classic (47mm)
• Google Watch 2/3

Or if there are other models to consider.


These are the ones I’ve found.


Let’s say that, for smart functionalities, I would only need the basics to avoid taking out my phone when it’s not convenient. For example, I wouldn’t use the smartwatch to talk during a call, but I’d like to give voice commands to make calls. Similarly with WhatsApp: I’d like to read notifications, and maybe, just maybe, start responding via voice dictation.


As for the fitness features, I prefer something that tracks as much as possible with precision, considering the sports I do are walking, outdoor cycling, and weightlifting.

I think to avoid. Don't like the idea that a watch needs to be a tracking, spying device on my wrist.

But, if for some reason you have to take anything, then maybe the Huawei, in case in has nothing in common with Android, which is a spyware bloatware fest junk.

My Watch 6 covers all the fitness stuff I need, however the app is a bit bloaty. Notifications are there and I rarely need to pull out my phone unless I actually want to reply.

Can't vouch for that. There is a speech function as I can make calls on it but notifications come up as easily as it would on a phone.

Go with galaxy or apple as I worked in retail these fitness watch has a fairly high failure rate ranging from software to straps etc etc… garmin Fitbit etc
But becareful with Samsung as they have a tendency to abandon smart watches updates if they are 3 years or older…

I think they are, I had/have the Watch sinds version 1 without any problems!

Get a Garmin so you're not tied to any of the mobile OS'es and an app.

They're also on a decent quality level altogether. Its worth getting a wrist strap that suits you, especially the material. Plastic wrist straps aren't great - but there is no need to buy a specific watch for having a specific strap.

the problem is that the garmin does not have voice commands compared to the samsung and I can't answer whattapps from my cell phone etc.

I don't think you can go wrong with any smart watch. I'd just look for one of the same brand as your phone to make sure it matches in functionality.

I've got a Galaxy Fit 2, and the weather page only works if I connect it to a Samsung phone - it needs the Samsung weather app running which can't be downloaded to any other phone.

Yes, the Garmins are really more sports oriented watches than smartphone stand-ins.
The Venu 2 I have experience with, I can't say I've done a deep dive on smartwatches and tried many. But to me its real dealbreaker to be app-dependant. Updates tend to break shit over time, and/or are just no longer provided. Also I'm not too keen on having messaging on my wrist, if anything I want less, not more of that BS
