Hi all

I have a Dell Optiplex 3050 with i5-7500. I use the integrated graphics of the CPU (Intel HD Graphics 630) with HDMI video output
A few days ago something went wrong and I'm not able anymore to see video signal.

Computer boots (I hear fans and lights), I see for a few seconds the win 10 splash screen, and then I get a "no signal" message on my monitor.
I double check HDMI cable and monitor, everything is OK.

I'm able to boot on BIOS settings. I manually select "integrated graphics" on the appropriate video settings (from "auto"), but problem persist.
I run some dell diagnostics on BIOS and everything pass the diagnostics successfully.

I'm able to boot on "Safe Mode", in this case I get a low resolution video output.

I try to boot via "repair boot" and using "Advanced Startup Options" with "low-resolution video". No video signal, I see again the win 10 splash screen and then no video signal.

I try to run live linux without success. I see terminal lines for a few seconds and then again "no signal" message.

I try Linux on "Safe graphics mode" and I was able to boot normally but with very low resolution.

I reset BIOS settings, problem still exist.

Finally I plug an old dedicated video card (Leadtek WinFast PX8600 GT TDH 512MB) and now I'm able to boot normally at 1024 × 768. (I'm sure that if I install drivers for the GPU I will get better graphics but this is not what I'm looking for at this point). Computer now works fine with dedicated video card.

The problem is that the dedicated video card is a temporary solution, I can't keep it. I have to repair the integrated graphics.

As far as I understand Intel HD Graphics 630 is integrated to CPU (i5-7500) and not the the motherboard. So I believe that all this is a software misconfiguration and not a hardware issue since CPU works fine when I get video signal.

Any ideas? How can I restore integrated graphics?

Thanks

Your issue is 100% hardware related. If a different HDMI cable doesn't fix it you have a dead iGPU. The only way you fix it is buying a new CPU.
