With the ongoing intel debacle, it's very bad what is happening to systems the people bought with their hard-earned money.
The last thing that any consumer needs is an unstable system, the instability is consistent to many.
Some have jumped ship and gone to AMD, wise choice. Some won't be able to jump ship even if they want to mostly due to financial constraints.
There are those who would like to RMA the defective parts and continue using Intel but hell the request might be denied.

Well as for me I'm on 14th Gen i7-14700K since release late last year, currently no issue, my system has been solid so far.
In case of any issues that may arise, ... well I thought that's the whole point of being a tinkerer. Best opportunity to get to the bottom of the issue! well that's just me, I guess. Maybe there are others!
I have seen and dealt with the issues that Intel is facing with 13th and 14th Gen, it's very real and in all cases that I've dealt with the CPU's were already degraded and I had to RMA for which I got replacements.

I'm here to stay, I'm not jumping ship from Intel, I intend to see this through, maybe I'm alone on this one!? maybe there are others willing to go the distance? your thoughts are welcome.

To me it's pretty simple, I am not allied to any brand whatsoever. I might have preferences for specs or features, but if any brand is offering the best product for my use case I'll buy it.

Intel appear to be handling this very poorly, however your retailer should still be dealing with it correctly if you have a faulty product, Intel's posturing and lack of a broad recall don't undo your consumer rights if you buy a product that is faulty.

I certainly won't write Intel off for this, and claim to never buy from them again, but it would suck if I had an affected product.

Personally I find a good portion of the vocal minority let the politics influence them far more than the actual products. To me all brands have had their miss steps both intentional or not, and they all are greedy and want my money, so I just buy based on the products themselves because otherwise its a who do I think is worse, moral high horse dick waving exercise. Don't let any company live rent free in your mind, Wether positively or negatively.

It's not the user that'd have switch, it's to Intel/AMD to merge so there will be no more different CPU/chipset architectures and all will be easyer for everybody.

Do you have a preference between AMD/Intel CPU/chipset ?.. they offer the exact same thing !.. each year it's about 1mhz, 1 lane, memory freq... it's copy/paste.

I prefer AMD right now due to the lack of ecores and no the chips are actually quite a bit different.

Exactly. Brands aren't loyal to you, so why would you owe them any loyalty in return? Only buy what you need (says the guy with a PC hardware collection on his shelf), and don't think about the colour on the box. No company gives a damn about you, only your money.

I have no allegiance or loyalty to any brand. I tend to buy what produces the consistently highest results given my budget, provides a superior user experience, and/or something which is novel and interesting technology. My experience with the i9-13900KS has been pleasant so far. I hope my CPU does not malfunction, but so far, so good. Intel's extension of warranty and work at improving the CPU microcode are enough to satisfy me, for now. I truly hope they consider releasing Bartlett to the DIY channel as Core non-Ultra parts.

So Intel isn't denying RMAs? Weird, i've heard otherwise.

As far as I know, it's quite the contrary, they're offering a two-year extension. SKUs with one now have three, and SKUs with three now have five years of warranty. It's someone from Reddit whose post got weaponized by the usual suspects and that went viral, since tech media felt it needed clicks.

I know man, was a joke.

Haven't needed intel warranty lately, last time was back in 2015 and I have to say it was excellent. Send in the chip and within 4 working days I got a new one. No questions asked. Things might have changed, I really don't know.

They're not denying RMAs, why would they do that? What I heard is that they're not doing a recall, which is not the same thing.

Consumers are best off when both companies are producing products worth owning. After GN and level1tech lit a fire under Intel's a$$ they seem to be doing the right thing they know at this point if they refuse RMA's it's going to blow up even more and for those unaffected which is probably the majority they get a couple years of warranty which is a win in my book.

I owned nearly every generation of intel cpu from the core duo days all the way up to 10th generation and only had issues on the motherboard side never a faulty cpu so if they make a product I like again I wouldn't think twice grabbing it. 12th generation was pretty close it just came a little too late for me if it released as 11th gen and not the garbage they shoveled off of 14nm ++++++++++++++++ grave I'd for sure own one in a primary system. I would have likely skipped 13/14th anyways even without the drama.

I was excited for Meteor lake but that ended up a bust on desktop for whatever reason and now I am interested in Arrow Lake, will I buy one at launch hell to the na na but If 6-8 months post launch it looks like a winner maybe. I have an extra AM5 board in the closet as well if anything AMD makes tickles my fancy I'd never lock myself to one chip maker on the cpu side... Now if we could just get more competition for Nvidia that would be great....

The only thing that concerns me about intel is they don't seem to be doing all that well in general I feel like every earnings reports is like doom and gloom from them and they seem to be cutting staff left and right, after they squandered their silicon superiority they seem to be a bit lost atm hopefully they regain their mojo I thought 12th gen was a huge step back into the right direction but after 2 generations of mostly the same chips but more E cores and Meteor lake being what it is I think they really need Lunar and Arrow lake to be a big hit, I guess we will see.

Just as a disclaimer, we know intel is not your friend, infect any company for that matter. They only have interests’ money interests for that matter.

Nothing wrong with that, companies need to both make money to survive and also to invest in R&D it's just never good for a consumer to think any of them have our best interest in mind or for us to make excuses for any of them.

It's only 2 years between 12th and 14th gen though. It's also 2 years between zen 4 and zen 5. Im fairly confident the performance jump from 12th to 14th is much bigger than zen 4 to zen 5. At least that's what all the leaks show.

Are we turning this into an Intel vs AMD conversation? Why?
