I built a new mini-pc this weekend using AsRock's DeskMini 310W using an i5-9400 6-Core processor.

I planned from the beginning to use the NH-L9i as the cooler, but I wanted to see how it compared to the stock Intel cooler. There are a couple reviews that have the stock heatsink, and the NH-L9i even loses to the stock in at least one that I found.

The problem I have is they never tell you which Intel stock cooler they are using. Are they using the weak cooler Intel is shipping now or the really big decent ones they've shipped in the past?

I mean this is a "stock Intel" heatsink:

And so is this:

But this it the all aluminum garbage they ship with their 1151 processors now:

So, I installed the stock Intel fan that came with my i5-9400, set my DeskMini 310W to full fan speed(which was loud @3200RPM) and ran Aida64's stress test. Here is what I got:

126873

Then I installed the NH-L9i, also set to full fan speed(which was much quieter than the Intel stock cooler) and here is the result:

126874

There you go. The NH-L9i is 5°C cooler and quieter too. I just did this for my own curiosity and figured I'd share my results.
