hi!
i've been looking online for a better psu as i feel like my EVGA 450BR wont be able to handle the upgrades im planning to get for my computer, and i found a P650G for 55 euros (!!)
im sort-of aware of the disaster the GM power supplies of gigabyte were, but ive heard that most gigabyte power supplies are not all that bad, im wondering if this model was part of the same family (GM) of the dangerous PSUs of around 3 years ago, or is it clear from any danger? thank yall in advance!!

why would you risk it when you other brands available to you? Virtually all their most recent units were made by Metrotec Electronic so I would assume the P650G is as well

Prob fine, but just don't risk it pls. 25$ for better psu isn't worth potentially frying your GPU or whole rig, not to mention the cost of a new psu if it blew

I would not worry about the GMs being "dangerous". But I do agree with the others about going with a quality supply from a reputable brand.

I like to ask, "Would you buy a brand new Porsche then fill it up with fuel from the corner tobacco and bait shop?" Everything inside the computer depends on good, clean stable power and it is up to the user to ensure the PSU can provide it. Trying to trim the budget with the power supply is not a good idea. "Invest" in a quality supply.

Note that the 80 PLUS certification program is NOT an indication of quality or reliability. It is only about power efficiency - that is, how much energy is wasted in the form of heat. That said, I still recommend getting Gold certified, or at the very least, Bronze certified. I don't recommend Platinum or Titanium unless you just happen to find one that is deep discounted. Otherwise, the savings in efficiency just is not enough to make up for the higher costs.

Have you already decided on your upgrade components? If not, then wait until you do before you decide on a size for your new PSU.
