"Is the RX 6800 hotspot value normal ?

I want to buy a used RX 6800. I searched on the web and found an XFX SWIFT 319 RX 6800. I asked the seller for a FurMark test. I saw the results of a 7-minute 1080p GL test."
FPS: 196, Temp: 71°C, Hotspot: 92°C.
Are these good values for an RX 6800, or does the card have problems?"

Considering a 2020 card launch, it's time for maintenance on her thermals... taken this assumption.
We don't know the ambient temperature/environment and chassis/ventilation used...
On AMD MBA card there's peaks of 98°C with D3D.

Yes normal for that generation card. If I recall, 105C on the hot spot is when the driver will throttle the clocks. So turn up the fans a bit if you see it running hot.

Better than mine RX 7700 XT with 30C difference...for example I have 55C max during gaming with 100% usage(which is more than perfect) but with 85-86 hotspot which was scary at first when I saw these number difference. At idle, the temps are almost equal - for example 26C idle with 29 hotspot. When I did some research it occured that these 30C difference is completely normal for that exact GPU. Maybe you should change thermal paste and pads when you buy it.I don't know about RX 6800 but for my GPU 71C would be considered as high temps , or at least It would seems high to me but in fact the card can go up to 105 hotspot and 90C die temps.(it have 3 fans and it's effective gpu tbh. I don't know which version of your GPU you have but yeah that's only for refference. If the card is never opened for maintaince and it's manufactured 2020 - well that's for sure crusty Thermal compound in it and changing it will definitely solve that high temps issue with at least 10-20C

Yes, these temperatures are well within reason. No need to scratch your head. Use your alarm bells once these become 15 degrees hotter.

92C is nothing to worry about for a hotspot temp. A quick research says that 110C is somewhat the max safe temp for hotspot (yet far from comfortable).

but maybe you read some tutorials for undervolting (helped me a lot last year) and and make sure there is good airflow concept in the case!
With the standart fan config in a cheap case and just 2 sys-fan's (and worse drivers before 1 year=) my hotspot temps was always round about 92°C
under full load.

less heat emission = less noise from the fans,
better performance of the graphics card (less unnecessary heat generated, can be converted into higher performance),
longer lifespan of the thermal paste... etc etc =D

this is the temp where the gpu decreases the frequency (voltage etc) to protect the components.
But the if i dont missunderstood it, every gpu or cpu regulates in some small steps before slightly
already the powertable, to prefent temp spike's above the limit!
otherwise the temps would regularly swing beyond the limit.

but if something go's wrong theres a last value where modern GPUs and CPUs would shut down for hardware self-protection!
Usually, If something breaks it is because the manufacturer made a mistake in the assembly or cooling concept OR
or the customer makes a mistake when replacing the thermal paste/pads.

But with a model that has been on the market for so long, it should be known if something on the manufacturer's side is not right.

Yeah, as far as I know the difference between hotspot and die temps should be no more than 15C but mine works factory on 30C difference...just AMD :)

That's not an issue, really.
Although it would be much better undervolted and with thermal interfaces changed, if that wasn't done properly before. Some pastes people put on their GPUs end up being much worse than the factory applied ones. Pads as well.

looks fine to me. RDNA 1/2/3 all have a 20-30°C Delta even with a PTM. only some very high end heatsinks and water cooling drop it to 15-20°C (like the Vapor X)

Well I tought the same as I saw people commenting that 30 is not good at all... I voided my warranty of my 3 year warranty GPU (not even 12 months passed now) to repaste it because I knew that factory paste is bad...Did some professional job and guess what - same delta ;) Maybe 1-2-3C decrease but the delta is still 30C+ and above above...(ofcourse when playing games but when it's idle are both equal ;l

And funny enough I recently switched to a Grizzly Carbonaught pad and I just checked and I actually have about a 15C Delta 60/74 but yes 30 is considered the "upper limit" I mean as long as the Hotspot isn't pushing 90C+ it's really fine as the thermal limit is 105C

No more than 85C Tdie temps for me. I guess it's because mine GPU doesn't run hot at all. Before anything happens to my GPU due to high temperatures or something - I would probabbly will upgrade long before that happens.
