No, you need two ram sticks to get dual channel, in the right configuration.
It is however, Dual Rank

You need two DRAM modules for Dual Channel.
One of the modules may be soldered on PCB itself (if this is a laptop).
However : If they are not at the same capacity (or have the same rank configuration), async Dual Channel will enable (ie. dual channel perf. only up to certain RAM usage).

Checking memory bandwidth is a easy way to check if Dual Channel is enabled (comparing values before and after additional DIMM installation).

It should be dual channel for the first 8GB and then single for the other 12GB.

I have a laptop with 4 GB onboard and a single slot that I put 8 GB ram on it and it looks something like this:

The Memory tab in CPU-z should show the rank.
Update to the latest version and see if it shows 1.93.0
