Is this OEM psu good for 1660 Ti ?

I found a Lenovo think station p310 that comes with fsp 400w Platinum PSU, however i put a 1660ti in it, it worked but any frames higher than 60 i would hear coil whine like static sound coming from the headphones connected through the front panel, why is that?

I found a YouTube video of someone putting a 1650 super and having the system randomly shut down, until he replaced the psu, maybe he got a bad one, idont know, all i see the specs are fine and it comes with 8pin connector, am just worried about the static noise in headphones under heavy gaming load, it could be a warning about a potential problem down the road

The Lenovo p310 has a i7 6700 and 16gb ram, with a ssd and a hard drive

FSP is a solid OEM so the PSU should be fairly capable and that GPU pulls around 150w gaming. Does the 1660ti make that noise with another PSU? It could be the PSU, could be the GPU.

Coil whine doesn't mean you have a power issue. It's just an acoustic nuisance more than anything else.

Still, I'd check everything with a multimeter and see if there's no actual voltage issues.

The noise comes through to the headphones, its not like you can hear it in person, only if you connect a headphone and hear a staticy sound under gaming load

I too believe fsp is a known oem but the static sound above 60fps and a YouTuber experience with one failing on him with a 1650 super got me nervous

try to make sure any front panel audio cables in the case are not close to GPU & power cables. It's not usual to hear the coil whine at load but I can't recall anyone saying they heard it through their headphone only at load so not really sure.

I wonder if it's 12V ripple breakthrough on the audio circuits, either directly on the motherboard, or via the front panel leads as you say.

When the CPU and GPU are working hard, the ripple voltage will increase. I think the ATX PSU regulations specify a maximum permitted ripple of +/-100mV on the 12V rails. Good PSUs will be +/-20 to +/-30mV ripple at full rated power output. Lower quality PSUs or those with old electrolytics which are starting to dry out, may have much higher ripple.

Do you get the same "static sound" when connecting the headphones to the rear panel? If they're quieter on the rear panel output, rearrange the audio leads up to the front panel as @dirtyferret suggests.

If there's no difference between front and rear panel output, try bypassing the internal audio codec and try an external USB audio DAC and headphone amplifier. They start off very cheap (e.g. $8.99), but you can pay thousands ($2,000+) for audiophile quality.
