Use case is primarily for running 1 VMWare VM, a few sessions of VS 2019, + normal web / media type stuff. I do game but not the types of games that need a powerful GPU. I will probably drop in an old 750Ti and decide later. Maybe I will procastinate on this long enough for a new generation of GPU to come out.

Also I would be transferring a 1TB WD Blue SATA SSD from my laptop. Going from a laptop with 7700HQ / 16GB / 256GB Samsung EVO 860 ( boot) / WD Blue 1TB SATA SSD / GTX 1070. It's too noisy under load and I'm starting to use it constantly due to all the new WFH thing. I want something small, quiet, unobtrusive, and moderately powerful.

For now my thought is to use the included Intel fan, and see how the thermals are. Airflow on this case should be direct front to back so I'm not sure any downdraft fan will be good. A side draft CPU fan that blows towards the rear of the case (into the 2 80mm exhaust fans) seems logical, but this CPU isn't exactly a big heat engine.

So, anyone used this case, anything I should watch out for fitment and so on?

Nothing really of note here; the Core V1 isn't a particularly small case and doesn't present any CPU cooler height or PSU length restrictions. Only real concern is what GPU you might end up putting in it as it's a rather short case, but it seems like you won't be running into that issue with what you intend to use this for.

10400 shouldn't have thermal issues regardless of what you do, but having some airflow is better than none. I'm guessing you're not looking to push performance boundaries, so make sure the board is set to respect the 10400's Intel-spec PL1 limit of 65W if you want to lose a couple of degrees C (not a significant difference, I stand corrected). Should also easily fit any 92mm tower heatsink if you decide you want to drive temps down even further. Intel box coolers aren't too loud but some of them can be buzzy.

Thanks! Didn't know how big a cooler it could handle, that's good info as it means I won't have to deal with getting a specialized low profile one.
