So I'm using my old Corsair headset, and y'know how some mic arms have that little nubby feeling to adjust where the arm position is? Well if you don't it's okay because I have no clue what I'm saying.

Anyway, because the nubby things are basically worn out it's next to impossible to keep the mic up in the rest spot. I'm not exactly sure how to fix this since I'm not sure if gluing a couple small magnets to the headset is a good idea.

Tl;dr need a way to keep mic arm up when not in use because adjusting thing is worn out.

Well my mod mic is attached with small magnets and it hasn't caused any problems for my headphones. Could you do some kind of zip tie rig?

Use an anchor system ,or hot glue. it's easy to put on ,it dries quick and it's easy to remove as long as it's applied to plastic or something non-porous

Duct tape

So like, lemme put a little more detail in.

When the mix boom is down it sits perfectly. The issue is when I put it up in the resting position that I have the issues. I wouldn't mind tape or zip ties except I still need it to move up and down, but I'm only two spots. I'ma look into the magnet thing.

New cans. ;)
I'm looking at the Steelseries Syberia 7 as my next set. Money is the issue for the moment.

Just make the zip tie loose. That way when you want it up, you can lift the zip tie and ring the mic. Outside of that you will be hard pressed to do much else.

You need to fix an anchor on that ear cup, that way when you want the mic boom up you can put it up , and when you want to down you can unhook it from the anchor and drop it down.

I'm trying my best to envision your situation, I'm thinking if you were to make a small loop out of a zip tie or some type of rigid material ,and affix that to that your earcup (in a location where you can slide the end of the mike boom into it when it's up and easily pull it out so It can come down)when you want to use it.

The mechanism might be a bit heavy on your head but this would definitly work.

Hm, can you zip tie a laundry clip (or clothespin, I dunno the right word) to the headset side and when you put the mic up, clip it. Just make sure not to use a too loose or tight of a clip.

the pegs on these dryers have a hoop on one end....might work

Maybe wedge a thin piece of paper between to two mating surfaces to compensate for the sloppiness (extra space) caused by the friction and wear of moving it up and down 1000s of times over the years.

there it is. thats the closest to keep it and as you can see, a ziptie wont exactly work

Velcro dots and a thin strip of cloth or plastic will do the job...

I just made this for you
