Hi guys

I have a desktop for school and the problem is the machine boots into windows but restarts and it keeps this loops for about 20-30 times before one time its stable to use.
I am asking which hardware component is the culprit?

Specs as follows ... i7 7700, 32gb ddr4 2666, 512gb sata ssd... 2gb gtx1050 and i believe the mobo is h170 this pc is a prebuilt by a korean company.
it was built in 2017 so yeah 7 years old... and this pc hasnt been used for anything intensive apart from me trying doom eternal with the 1050... other than that its just displays pdfs and powerpoints..

Update : Just tried booting with safe mode... same thing
Also im thinking of replacing it if its unfixable or by parts if its cheap enough

Do you have any crash dumps/blue screen logs?

From your description, it sounds that either your memory or power supply went bad. Those two are the most likely to cook on an old prebuilt

SSD is a possibility, running a live Linux distro from an USB stick can help troubleshoot it. If you don't get a kernel panic using live Linux then you can pretty much narrow it down to the GPU or SSD.

This tool is super handy to make any distro you want bootable from USB - no need to install on the PC, just boot it off the USB stick and it'll be usable. Make a persistence file with the installer tool if you want any changes to be saved

Yeesh! Just dusting that thing off would resolve multiple problems with it! Haha, worthy of that nasty clubhouse thread!

At least RAM is a cheap and quick fix, nice! :toast:

Alright update after cleaning the whole thing, I put back the ram and it boots into windows now but the machine doesn’t feel stable… I feel the os chug from time to time… also the cpu got new thermal paste and the idle temp is at 48… either the cooler is terrible or cpu is on its way…
