Hi all, I wanted to ask about the largest laptop screen for business; something like the new 18 inches gaming laptops but preferably without a dGPU - to lower the cost - doesn't matter if it's intel or AMD or even the new SD CPUs, and if I may add - cheapest - one since I will be dealing with procurement team to buy it for me, thank you so much in advance!

Don't bother with the SnapDragon based lappies from what I've seen they're more expensive than similarly spec'd AMD/Intel laptops

I meant I am open to any options! my current laptop is 13.3 inches, and I am coding on it, it's slowly killing my vision! :(

Hey man, yeah 13 inch laptops arent really optimal for productivity (I say this as a 13 inch laptop enjoyer myself as well =D)

I'd suggest you go for something 16 inch with a 16:10 aspect ratio. 16 inch is a whole different ballpark from 13 while still being reasonably portable and the aspect ratio is also great for productivity.
There are loads of options these days in that bracket, many also quite affordable.
Some examples are:
The Lenovo IdeaPad (Slim) or Thinkbook
The Acer Swift Edge or Travelmate
The Asus VivoBook

Ordered a fairly cheap 16 inch thinkbook for a colleague a while ago and he's quite happy.

Still, if you can, a desktop size monitor is always better not just for screen size and vision but also your posture.

Good luck in your search!

^ this. There might be some with 17.3 inch screen, but check what resolution you comfortable with. Most 15 inch screen nowadays comes with 1920x1080 (I even noticed some 16 incher comes with 1920x1200 16:10 resolution)

Thank you so much for the feedback, even the IDE I am using at work is an ancient one - closed source almost dead language - anyways I can't edit the view in it, so a bigger screen is definitely helpful! I do have multi-screens setup at home but most of the time I am at client side so I am stuck with my dead small laptop, I even had a report from hospital that this is hurting my vision and wanted to submit for even a 21 inches laptop!! - mobility isn't an issue for me, Vision is more important and to be comfy! - so I am looking for the largest screen there is, even with an older gen CPU I don't mind at all!

Thank you so much again for your input, much appreciated.

do you have a big hardware store anywhere nearby?

If it's this important, i'd see if i can just check out some laptops IRL, see what feels best for you.

I'd personally be quite happy with a 16inch, but it sounds like you perhaps might actually be better served by just hauling along a dedicated screen along with the laptop (if space/power allows).

HP might have what you want, as they have a couple of 17.3" models, sadly only 1080p.

MSI have some 16" models that might fit your needs, as they offer higher resolution displays.

Lenovo has a wide range of 16" models with different resolution displays.

Can you at least set the font size in the editor, so you can adjust it to the pixel density of the laptop you're going to get?

DOUBLING. Highly recommend 16" 16:10. Not recommend 16+ cuz it's called "DTR" (Desktop replacement) and huge, heavy and not mobile unless you are powerlifter and like carrying (yes, even from apartment to car lol) heavy stuff. if you have STABLE place just hook a 24" WQHD and enjoy. Or better 27" WQHD your eyes gotta "fank you".

You may wanna check into the HP EliteBook 15"/16" series....

Thin, light, moderately powerful, and reasonably priced too, and with bumping the ram to 32GB and the optional docking station, gives you more ports than most people will ever need...

I have been working on them for the past 3 years of WFH, and they have been excellent performers for my database, imaging, video and spreadsheet work :)

1080p for 17.3" is fine, around 22" you can start to notice the individual pixels. I have a gaming 17.3 Omen, but I will use it as a workstation notebook, I can use the GPU for AI programming, photo editing.
