Hello. May I ask for additional informations please? I checked on my tablet the lenovo homepage and reddit but I'm not 100% sure the information is correct.

I bought a refurbished (sorry its german for the tech specs from the invoice):
Lenovo ThinkPad L15 Gen 1 (AMD)
Displayauflösung: 1920 x 1080 FHD | Grading: Fair | Prozessor: AMD Ryzen 5 Pro 4650U @ 2,1 GHz | Tastaturlayout: Deutsch (QWERTZ) mit Ziffernblock | Betriebssystem: Windows 11 Professional | Datenspeicher: 250 GB SSD | Arbeitsspeicher: 8 GB DDR4 | Displayart: Mattes Display | Webcam: Ja | Fingerprintreader: Ja | Tastaturbeleuchtung: Nein | LTE: Nein

I'm not so much in those mobile processors and lenovo equipment.

  • Does this device have two dram slots which are replaceable?
I tried to find gen 1 amd page on lenovo homepage. It's hard to find. I do not want to use reddit as a source for technical specs?
Reddit claims that device may have two replaceable DDR4 SODIMM slots.

Does it matter much to have two identical DRAM modules in a laptop? I'm not sure, but I think the uefi is locked anyway for anything.

  • Would you upgrade that DRAM or leave it as is? (depends if the dram is replaceable)

  • Which kind of NVME slots?
It seems there are one M2 2242 PCIE 3.0x4 Slot and a M2 2280 PCIE 3.0x4 Slot. I would be happy if there would be any specs.

Are those M2 2242 PCIE NVME common in laptops these days?

  • Regarding cpu (sources I checked techpowerup / amd)
Am I right in those findings?

It seems ryzen 4xxxU processors are Zen 2. Some do not have Hypterthreading.
Ryzen 5500U, 5300U seems to be also Zen 2.
Those 4xxxU Pro processors seems to be Zen 2 but with Hypertreading.
I have the feeling AMD Ryzen 5 Pro 4650U is a relabled Ryzen 5500U.

  • Which desktop ryzen is equivalent to AMD Ryzen 5 Pro 4650U? (i tried to find some benchmarks and such - but i highly doubt those sources)

  • I'm just curious. Would you pay 250€ with one year "warranty" for this refurbished device. It comes with a refurbish Microsoft windows license.

Thanks for your time for reading.

Note: I'm not sure if a notebook question belongs in generic hardware. I tried to find the proper section before posting.

Does this device have two dram slots which are replaceable?
-Hardware maintenance manual shows two DDR4 so-dimm slots. So memory is replaceable.

Does it matter much to have two identical DRAM modules in a laptop?
-My opinion: I recommend having two same kind of memory modules. Or atleast same memory chips on dimm's. Most of memory should work with different manufacturer dimm's but not always true. Problems which you could see are computer not booting, instability(bluescreen) and some rare cases corrupted files.

Would you upgrade that DRAM or leave it as is?
-I Always use atleast 2 dimm's on DDR4 platform. Makes computer little bit faster and if you use integrated GPU a lot->I would upgrade atleast to 2x 8GB. Also 32GB is a nice choice.

Which kind of NVME slots?
-One is shorter 2242 and other one is longer 2280 lenght. You can find drives to both connectors. 2242 is used when there was no space to use longer one.

Which desktop ryzen is equivalent to AMD Ryzen 5 Pro 4650U?
-As it is 15w CPU. It is hard to say, as at stock all cores in use it's base clock is at 2.1GHz. There is no such a processor on desktop side->slowest socketed Renoir desktop CPU has 35W minimum and 3.3GHZ base clock.

Would you pay 250€ with one year "warranty" for this refurbished device?
-I can't give right answer to this. I already own HP 14" with 4500u(no SMT/hyperthreading) and B-die memory running at 3200MHz(This is maximum). There are tools and modders who can make custom bios-versions. But I would not rely on that Thinkpad can have these kind of settings.
