We (the Mod team) are looking at expanding our numbers a little, both our Community and the forums continue to grow and we want to make sure that there is sufficient coverage at all times to support it.
Generally we are looking for established members to come forward to volunteer who have an understanding of this pretty unique community (well I think so anyway) who are level headed and have the ability to be fair and consistent. Having historic infractions is not necessarily a barrier to consideration. There is no exact definition of ”Established” it is as much about contribution as it is about length of service.
Some of you may have experience of moderation on other forums, for those that don’t, you should be aware of some of the potential pitfalls of the role, for example:
You will never keep everyone happy all the time
You are almost always wrong if you have to deal with a member or an issue
You will often be accused of some form of Bias
You favour AMD today
You favour NVidia tomorrow
You are rarely consistent
If you are not put off by this small selection, I remind you of Sneekypeet’s custom title “unpaid babysitter”
We are not sure of how many we will need and in part that may depend on the quality of the applicants, ideally we would want to balance out timezone’s where possible. The selection process will be carried out by the team in the Moderator Lounge based on a number of factors that will be known exclusively to us and final decisions will be communicated to successful candidates shortly afterwards.
Should you wish to be considered, simply post YES (no pitch, nothing more) in this thread, please ensure you have the country where you live showing in your user account details and therefore showing under your avatar to make geography a little easier for those of us who still wonder why Australia are competing in this weekend’s Eurovision Song contest! If anything is unclear then feel free so message a Mod for clarity rather than doing so in the thread.
Please do not post anything in the thread unless you want to be considered, there is to be no debate or comment in the thread or reasons why you don’t want to be considered as these will be deleted, we want to keep it simple and don’t want to have to go through reams of pages to find those interested.
