Hello

I´ve had my gpu , monitor and cable for quite a while ( about 6 months) and suddenly monitor is showing this behavior

I´m wondering , is my gpu or monitor busted ? it is not driver crashes since i´ve checked the event viewer

I´m using display port connection through a 90 degree adapter and i´m using both the monitor and PC in a line filter

Could it be my monitor or gpu dying ?

thanks

have you tried taking the 90 degree adapter off or changing the cable and seeing what happens?

too bad i can´t do this since my DP cable would be completely stomped against the wall

I´m using the DP cable supplied by the lg monitor as well

thanks

cant you even just shift the monitor forward and do it just to see what happens? Im not asking you to have it that way permanently. Im just trying to help you diagnose the issue.

ah i see

it is also way random to happen , it is not constantly.

It is happening once in a week

i suspect the 90 degree adapter is causing this but do you think the port of my gpu or monitor could have gone bad ?

I did not change nothing , it just started happening

Thanks

do you think it is worth buying a 90 degree dp cable instead of using the adapter ?

also do these 90 degrees adapters somehow decrease the dp cable performance ?

I dont suspect anything because its not my problem. Im just trying to help you diagnose and hopefully fix it....

1. Check current cable is seated correctly at both ends and not loose.
2. Try it without the 90' angle.
3. Try a different DP cable
4. Roll back or reinstall drivers
5. Try the card in a different computer if possible
6. RMA the card if problem still persists.

Sometimes the cables that manufactures bundle with their monitors isnt the best. So it could also be a bad cable. Wont know until you follow the above steps.

if it were that consistent it would be better to diagnose but it is so hard to happen (like once in a week) that it is hard to diagnose

Have you tried a UPS or surge board with battery backup in case it is the power having fluctuations?

Is it possible static electricity is upsetting it? DP is Notoriously fickle with interference - and using a 90degree adaptor won't be helping. Maybe get a new cable that *Is* a 90degree one?

Assuming the cables are securely connected, the best way to quickly find out is to swap in a different monitor and see what happens. If the 2nd monitor blacks out, the problem is most likely the graphics solution. If the 2nd monitor works fine, the 1st monitor is likely the problem.

If the 2nd monitor also blanks out, I would swap in a known good power supply to make sure that is not the problem.

You could also try that monitor on a different computer.

If no 2nd monitor, note most TVs made in the last 10+ years support computer input.

Also note, if the graphics card is the cause of the problem, switching to a different port on the card may help address the issue.

For example, I have an Asus RTX 3050 (DUAL-RTX3050-6G) card which is a questionable card made by a questionable company IMO. One of the DisplayPorts started to flicker and eventually stopped working altogether. Since the card was running 3 monitors (all 3 on DisplayPort) I switched the monitor from the failed DisplayPort to the remaining HDMI port. Works fine now, but a new video card is in order.

I'm not saying its your video card. I'm just recommending reasonable trapshooting methods.

Bill_Bright has the right idea. Follow his recommendations. You should be sorted in no time.

I had a random one like that and it was due to the cable, not saying yours is the same deal but maybe it's the male side that loose so connection issue happen..

I did not think mine was the cable due to the monitor being wall mounted and PC is on a HiFi so it was not as it the table was getting knocked or any thing.

I know i will not be keeping any HDMI\DP cables if the plastic casing is not a good fit to the rest of the cable or if the casing is on the softer side allowing play sooner or later.

So maybe try without that 90 degree, yes do whats needed and check the metal part on the cable ends is not loose or any of the pins don't look right.
