Hi all, I have a HP Envy 17-ae103na. I had a bit of an accident and ended up stepping on it. At first I thought it was just the screen that was broken as it booted up and displayed as it should. But found out that when it went flat it wouldn't charge anymore. When the charger was plugged in the charge light doesn't illuminate. So I decided to try and repair it my self. I have it all stripped down and I do have the 19v from the charger on the board, but not at the battery pins. Now I'm a bit stuck as i need a schematic and part location picture so I can try and get a bit further along. Any help would be gratefully appreciated.

Well sorry to be blunt, but the chance of broken traces and chips with broken pins is real. See if you can find any schematics for the chips that make the charging circuit work and measure them if possible. There are a few websites that host schematics, but a LOT of boards are missing. Search by board name/number. And do remember; a lot is stolen/leaked and uploaded from the company in question.

Hi and thanks for the reply. I'm new to the repair world and probably picked something a bit hard to begin with but it has been sat there for six months now. I have looked for the mobo schematics but absolutely nothing appears on the Web accept used mobo's. Would you be able to suggest some of the sites you talked about please.

If you never did any soldering (esp. SMD soldering), I would stay away. Chances are very high you break even more while doctoring around. ;) Do you even have the required tools?

Best bet would be a private repair shop, if that's a thing in your area. Or dump it on eBay.
