Gaming X Trio is MSI's more-affordable product line, next to the Suprim X flagship cards. You still get a decent factory overclock, and an amazing cooling solution that runs extremely quiet and cool. MSI has also included RGB lighting and a dual-BIOS feature.

I definitely agree that having a review of both models is *highly* useful. Often, when looking for the best model to buy, I'm searching for comparison reviews, but most review sites only ever test 1 model of each company, which makes it very hard to get an impression of how much difference there is between top and and budget lines.

Currently, TechPowerUp is my go-to review site, and from my point of view, the more different models you can test, the better. Especially the way you have temperature vs noise tables that compare all tested models is extremely useful. After all, these for me are the most important differences between all the GPUs. I don't care about looks or max clocks or LED lighting or anything like that. Give me a good cooler and a reasonably sized GPU, and I'm more than happy.

Excellent review.

I have the RTX 4090 Gaming X Trio and can confirm that it is an extremely quiet card.

Seems i'm going with MSI next year then (4060/4070).

Asus changed fans that are more noisy and opted for a stupid color scheme.

What is the reason for "No DisplayPort 2.0 support" on the RTX 4xxx cards?

The Nvidia 4xxx chips don't support DisplayPort 2.0. This will likely be added in 5xxx chips.

Great review, just bought this locally for around $1000. While it's not the best deal for the wallet from my 3080 10G (also a gaming x trio), however playing at 1440P Ultrawide, the 3080 was already starting to show in some titles. the 4080 crushes it at native resolution and even better using DLSS 3 and Frame Gen and am able to set graphical settings at Ultra instead of turning it down to high or medium. 16GB vram should be min moving forward IMO.

May I ask what happened in this review with 6800XT power spikes? They went from 389w in all previous reviews to 579w after this one. Thats quite the increase. Why?
