The MSI GeForce RTX 5090 Suprim SOC is the best RTX 5090 custom design that we've tested. Thanks to its large cooling solution, paired with perfect fan settings, it's the quietest card available, much quieter than the Founders Edition. Thanks to the factory OC you also get some extra performance.

If the FE wasn't expensive enough, I can now pay 20% more for 2% extra performance. Thank you MSI. (okay, just read the ASUS review, now I'm grateful to MSI for the $400 discount).
At least this one stays quiet.

Wild that this cooler so handily outperforms the Astral for waaaaaay less money.

The value of cards like this isn't really the extra performance, but the efficiency of the cooling, IMHO. I prefer a silent GPU over a noisy GPU any day of the week, by a mile.

Impressive cooler by MSI - well done!!

Yes, but will it have coil-whine?

I am a happy camper with MSI since GTX 970. Not a single time disappointed. They are consistent with their quality quiet coolers. My comment above was a poke at the price. Should be +100-200% above FE tops.

You pay for a card which cuts the noise of FE in half while having the same temps.

Thanks for all the efforts for testing those graphic cards.

--

I really wonder why not make the metal bigger. So more screws hold the graphic card in place

~2.8.. kg hold in place by two screws.

Using types of screws with the same length and same screw types is too much asked? Torx and Phillips Screws on the same side.

--

I looked at the thermals. A quieter card should cost more.

Maybe the Nvidia MSI graphic cards are awesome. The MSI radeon 6800 Z Trio was one of the worst graphic cards I ever owned (2022 or 2023) and sold after 3 months of disappointment. Therefore I would not state, that all, every MSI graphic cards are decent build.

I think coil whine most likely is an issue with quieter card. When you have a very loud graphic card like a jet plane you may not even hear coil whine. (not sure honestly)

I don't understand something. This card is faster than the FE in Cyberpunk RT, even though the clocks are lower.

And it supposedly only consumes 462 W in RT? Why would it not hit the power limit in the most demanding workload?

It runs cooler so probably boost higher?

I'm suprised they almost outperform their own liquid cooler which is a 100$ extra...

The Suprim non-liquid seems like the one to go after. Asus's Astral may have the best FPS but that's within margin of error. Less than 2 FPS at the three resolutions. All while staying quieter. Maybe Asus is thinking, peopl paid 3000 for a 4090, let's get in on that action.

At first I wondered what you meant by just 2 screws since the brackets are usually also fastened to the PCB. But looking at the teardown, the bracket really is just connected to the card via the two screws. Maybe it had something to do with the PCB being used between the liquid and non-liquid, still I'd figure they'd make the other parts conform to this common bracket.

Look at the Efficiency & Clock Speeds sections.

In some older reviews I have seen cases where some cards with less OC had higher fps listed so I guess "it just works" that way

It's so sad that without DIY you can't go more silent with a 150W GPU than with a 600W one because of the enforced minimum RPM.

It's four screws, not two.
Look at the left side of the pic, the IO plate is secured through the back of the card, too.
Plus if you look closely at the picture you posted, the IO plate isn't just a flat piece of metal, it's bent inwards into the cooler shroud itself which will literally hold the cooler up

Is anyone going to test RTX5090 with intel i9-14900k? I’m just curious if there will be some limitations compared to the AMD Ryzen 9800x3D.

I think that the MSI board is cooler than many tested so far... it is a good choice if you have the money...
I’m curious about the new Gigabyte 5090 boards, how are they gonna handle.

Why does the MSI use 100W less than the FE for ray tracing?
