Yes in 3.0 and 2.0
yes but mine is a 10 port model. but it's that one.
If it works on yours what's the firmware rev ?
thx
I ran out of time today to try it so will have to try it sometime tomorrow. I had to comb though my purchase history but I found info on the model I have which uses and older
ASMedia ASM1064 chip (actually 2 chips on this board for 8 ports) instead. I've tried it on my X570 with Windows 10 and Linux Mint 21.x and did not have to install any drivers manually, it just worked. I'm not aware of how to see any firmware revision as it didn't offer any additional option rom info or setup to load when posting. Although it was sold under Syba products I think it's just some generic card sold under multiple brands.
I forgot why but something I read at the time led me to the path of choosing one with ASMedia chipset instead of Jmicron. The
10 port version of this card that looks very similar to the 8 port uses the Jmicon chipset. If by some chance you have your specs wrong (such as from a bad Amazon listing) and you actually have a jmicron chip you might try do download the jmicron driver from the link I provided.
If you have your specs wrong and actually have a jmicron chip the difference other than the drivers could be the following listed below. I suppose it might open the possibility that these newer AM5 boards need a card with the higher ACHI compatibility - maybe - as I am not sure if that is even a factor in the problem you are having.
- (as advertised) The ASM1064 is compliance Serial ATA AHCI Spec. Rev. 1.3, Serial ATA Rev. 3.0
- (as advertised) The Jmicron is compliance Serial ATA AHCI Spec. Rev. 1.0, Serial ATA Rev. 3.0
Another thing you can try is toggling CSM in your UEFI/BIOS and see if that works.
I found this thread on TPU
https://www.techpowerup.com/forums/...d-firmware-for-asmedia-asm106x-series.264571/ .
Between the link Assimilator provided and this it looks like cards with ASMedia chips are a real shit show, I had no idea.
Lucky me I guess I didn't have any issues although I just use it for DVD drives not HDD or flash.
Looking back I paid a somewhat dumb $118 for my card but I needed one compatible for DVD's. I've never used an LSI SAS/SATA card but on Ebay you can also get an Areca ARC-1882i RAID Storage Controller (just make sure it's the PCIe 3.0 revision and has the latest firmware) for about $50 with 1GB cache which would run circles round the Asmedia ones however you would need an x4 slot. The drivers are recent for Windows 10 (and per the website has lots of other current drivers). Theoretically in both the motherboards you listed could support that type of card in the bottom x4 slot. I have the ARC-1882i running in my x570 so if you want to consider that option I could also test it out in my LiveMixer and let you know if it works before you attempt to buy such a card. Obviously being a used card you never know how much time your going to get out of it before it kicks the can but for only $50 it was totally worth it for my use case.
