MSI Z690-A Pro DDR4 can't set DDR voltage

Hello guys,

I have this board, so... Everything is good so far except that I can't enable XMP because it will set my memory speed to 3600, which 1.208V won't handle... I can't even manually set it to any other (below or above) value so I'm stuck with manually setting my speed which won't go above 3333 whichever Gear Mode I select

I have tried every BIOS listed on the support site (currently on latest 7D25v17 at the time of writing)... I have tried reseating the CPU, the DIMMs and I have even tried with 1, 2 or 4 populated DIMM slots and/or clearing the CMOS by removing the battery and/or JBAT1 jumper

Anyone has any idea why is this happening?

I have 4 of these:

F4-3600C16D-16GVKC (4x8GB) and a 12600KF

It is weird and I know these DIMMs work at 3600 because I had them on my X570/5800X even at 3733 1.45V

According to the MSi support site 4 sticks are supported with XMP @ 1.35V. Are your running the latest BIOS?
You can try booting with just 2 sticks and save the settings and add the other two sticks after.

Somtimes installing 4 Dimms at the same time can cause an issue. Refer to this post for correct RAM placement with two stick.

Yeah, so... As I noted on the OP, I have tried EVERY BIOS listed, with 1, 2 or 4 sticks

EDIT: So, in this other forum, someone handed me some profile backups he had but didn't work because he uses another CPU (12900K), but I noticed something weird... Seems the BIOS isn't ?reading? or ?setting? the DDR value anywhere because I noticed sometimes when I cold boot, voltage reads as 1.192V

I'm attaching some screenshots as proof

So... It must be a ?bug? or something BIOS related that maybe isn't letting it set the DDR voltage? This could steer more into this than asking for a RMA

If only someone with the same Mobo+CPU combo could send a backup so I could restore...

That is interesting.

Looks like VDDQ is your Vdimm. Try that and confirm with HWInfo64.

Take Dram off 1.60v with eventual. Those might be the start up voltages. If anything, make them the same as VDDQ.

Not really,

DRAM still shows as 1.192V or 1.208V
Yeah, hey look at that. Strange as hell.

The compatibility picture from TheKing may actually hold true in your case.
Says Support of XMP speed may be limited with non K chips, but not voltage. Which is controlled by the XMP profile.....

So....

Instead set the memory up Manually and Do Not enable XMP and see if it lets you set the Vdimm higher.

OR

Would try a different cpu (K model) and see what happens, maybe the board will adopt the XMP profile and let you adjust the vdimm.

Ideas thus far?

I thought I made it clear on my OP that I can't enable XMP and/or set manually the memory speed... Also, I currently run 3300 (max that can boot without issues at 1.2V)

Also, I have a 12600KF... That is a F CPU, but also a K

I chatted with a MSI representative via Live Chat and he provided me with a new beta BIOS (v183) but it didn't change anything... I'm about to ask for a new Mobo while I RMA this and if this keeps going like this, I will sell this CPU when 13th gen arrives and get a new one

Forgive my ignorance, I didn't clearly read the OP.

RMA the board.... make sure you take a pic of the serial number, you're likely to get the same board back again.

Probably exchange and rock ddr5 on 13th gen though.
