Hi!, i have this trouble,i have an Alienware 17 (2013), it came with 780m, i bought a 980m so i flashed the vbios (i make a mistake cuz the rom is of another 980m, another id) then i restarted the laptop and then the screen is black, no boot, and 8 beeps... There is any way to reflash with the stock vbios? i have it(the stock vbios) any good news?? pleeeasee!!

Try to plug it to a PC monitor, or maybe use external GPU.

Look around the GPU area for the video BIOS 8-pin chip.

If its integrated to the motherboard BIOS, maybe you can use SPI programmer if the BIOS file can be found in a raw format.

Hi, thanks for answer. Remember this is a mobile gpu. If I plug the old gpu the 780m Its works. But when I plug the 980m no boot. Black screen and 8 beeps. So I cant connect and external monitor. I dont know what can I do

BIOS isn't a driver and doesn't need to be updated for no reason.

If its a big chip, try to short these pins:

Or you can use CH341A programmer to flash it back.

Does the Laptop have integrated graphics?
Try switching to that in Bios and then booting with the dGPU disabled.

Yes it has. But it is disable for alienware. The versión aw 17 2013 only use dedicate gpu. So I cant switch it

This is the chip, look a little bit different from your photo, im going to do it but i would like to confirm the shrot pin? are the same in this card? Thanks!

OP, did the 980m work originally? Why/how would you flash the vbios in the laptop even to get around a whitelist?

Photo is not good enough to determine but most likey the same pins.

i
Get SPI flash programmer like FlashcatUSB or CH341A and flash it back.

Hi, thank you for your help. Another thing this is the CH341A https://www.amazon.es/módulo-Progra...child=1&keywords=CH341A&qid=1594656977&sr=8-2
to buy it. Meanwhile i get back to the 780m

Well.. my gpu was revived. thanks for everyone who help me in this!.. im gonna write the journey to success

1) first Intent

20200713-103701.jpg

I had to found someone with weldering skills to make the short in the pin 1 and 8, but it didn't work, the 8 beeps persist

2) Second intent
20200713-111152.jpg

We try it with a thicker cable, but again, the 8 beeps

3) Third Intent
I bought the CH341a USB, but the chip winbond is big and trying to put the tweezer on the chip one of the capacitor, the little brown came off and became a nightmare situation, cuz the capacitor is so tiny, more than grain of rice, after 4 hours seeking it i found it.

at this point i came to the welder guy, he weld the capacitor and desolder the winbond chip, and then i used de CH341a again and works, the tweezers made a good contact with the terminal of the winbond chip, i uploded the right rom. welder again the chip on the board, and the 8 beeps has gone for good.

Here you can see the capacitor weldered and the winbond chip too,,
