So yeah I was kinda unlucky yesterday.. But I think my new GTX 1070 Dual (ASUS) is savable.. But I don't know what those 101 chips/regulators are. I imagine the rest of the little scratches can be soldered back together. Anyone able to help? Possibly with some pictures of a working card and the same area? So I can see what needs to be soldered and what not.

So what is the true story behind this card?

So what is the true story behind this card?

I left an acryllic box with the card sitting on top (motherboard inside, which also was hit but survived), for aprox 1 minute while I was standing 2 meters from it, on my street, which is a small peaceful street, at 12 AM last night. A group of football fans in a car, probably on their way home from the lost football match yesterday (Denmark) drove right right through it.. Not saying they were intoxicated but the person in the passenger seat who I talked to was clearly drunk.. The card was flung onto the asfalt and the motherboard box was dragged aprox 10 meters.. the box shattered completely, and the motherboard survived.. not a scratch. Card powers up, and the LED indicating the 8 pin works.. But no POST.

Now this an interesting story, hopefully a specific board shot of your card in perfect condition could be found so you can salvage it, are you pretty good at soldering? Because smd parts need steady hands, the traces may be able to be repaired with a pen, @Mr.Scott any ideas?

Wankers. I'll bet he was drunk driving. Looks like they didn't offer to compensate you for the damage, either.

I'm sorry I can't help with repairing your card.

I actually contacted my insurance obviously, and they will contact the owner of the car - whom I of course got the plates of. The only thing the passenger I talked to had to say was "Well that sucks" .. They also said "But why is it out there in the middle of the road?!" to which I replied "I was there for under 1 minute, if you just opened your eyes you would of seen it". But either way.. I see this as a possbility to hone my soldering skills. If I only knew which SMD's I need then I will get going I suppose.

Did you leave the box on the road? That's a little careless, that sucks.

Yeah I realize it was a bit careless, but I really had barely left it there for a second, and my street was dead still when I did it.. I had full confidence in it.. :( Will be more careful next time obviously.

What are PC components doing outside on the street anyway? Other than getting drunk after a football match?

Being carried out to a car, because I was loading 2 PCs in my buddies car, before carrying the box up to my apartment.

Absolutely, which is why I need the above info :p RMA wont get me anywhere.
I take it you have a multimeter to beep test traces? ,traces can just about be replaced but it's not easy without a schematic diagram or another example to find conduction points on .

I do. But if I just found a picture of the backside of another card - I would just mimic the soldering there. It seems that some has just been scraped off. With regards to the SMD's.. Hm..

Maybe one of the members here has the skill and equipment required to repair the card and offers their services.

There is lifted bridge which is difficult to trace but try it you might be lucky if the lifted bridge is part of the ground...

The traces largely look ok except for one thats ripped clean off, there are a few caps scraped off though , A picture would possibly help but the ripped off pad looks to go through the pcb so will be hard to trace another point for, could be dead this mate , your going to have to get personally aquainted with it to be sure, sorry i don't own one.

Do you mean the part on the far left? Because the rest of it looks a lot like just scraped connections right?

The one on the far left over the C lettering ?

So I take it back, i zoomed in some more ,it does go to a through via but a short piece of trace Is there ,the caps and resistor's need swapping and a new part or two but it looks doable, shame you don't have old tat lying about to donor because the caps wouldn't matter so much in value term's and could be swapped onto it.
Definitely a close up pic would be nice of a intact one .

I have plenty of old cards that could donor but they vary in types quite a lot.

Yup.
Throw it away.
Even small children know not to leave their toys in the street.
Life lesson is sometimes painful and costly, but I bet it won't happen again.

I'm here to inform you, on behalf of Starfleet Command, that you've just been demoted to assistant chief engineer.

The only thing that looks like it could be a serious problem to repair is this.

Whatever it is...it's gone for good. If you get lucky, and there's a 50% chance you will, it's ground. Then you can just run a wire from that side to ground. If not...you're pretty well screwed there.

The rest is cake. So long as you can get the right parts.

You risk blowing up the entire system you'd want to try it with.
No telling what shape the card's PCB is in aside from what's pictured, even if you fix what's seen there could be some other unknown damage to it that a simple visual inspection may not catch.

Chunking it is probrably the safest thing to do here.
