I bought a Crucial T500 Gen4 ssd a couple weeks ago, to be used with the ROG GenZ.2 card that comes with the Crosshair X670e Extreme. I figured that was the best way to have a secondary m.2 drive without affecting the speed of the primary PCIe x16 slot that's occupied by my 3070. In BIOS, the drive appears alongside my primary m.2 in the NVME configuration setting (I think that's what it's called anyway;I'll edit my post after taking a peek at the BIOS) but it's not being recognized by Windows. In Windows, only my primary m.2 (a Crucial P5 Plus) and my WD Blue HDD are recognized.

I bought my board used and it came with all the big accessories (the fan control box, the Gen5 m.2 x16 card, and the GenZ.2 card) but none of the little rubber m.2 pads, screws, standoffs, etc. So I scrounged around Amazon for m.2 screws/standoffs and thermal pads in order to use the GenZ.2 card and it...just ain't working. I also suspect the card might be damaged because the big heat pipe on the Gen5 side is bent to shit (the previous owner was an animal, apparently) :ohwell:

At this point, I'm wondering if I should just take the performance hit and install the T500 into the second slot on the board itself. Would I notice a big difference going from x16 to x8 for my GPU?

By windows not recognizing it, do you mean in explorer? If so you need to take a look with Disk Management and create a new simple volume to be able to see and utilize it

Edit : as for the GPU in x8, you will not notice a big difference if its PCIe 4.0

did you sheck if there is a option to turn NVME raid on? i had a simelair problem

right click the windows start button to get into disk management, i am sure you already knew this, just time saver if you didn't

GAH!! I feel sooooo stupid right now, LOL. Can't even begin to explain how dumb I feel right now. This did the trick and now I can store my games on the T500 rather than my primary. Thank you, my dude! :toast::lovetpu:
