Hi There!
I am at the point where I need to update my extremely old and tired R7 370 GPU (4gb model) with the main use case as video editing (on Premier Pro). I understand the 8700K does a lot of lifting in regards to the video editing process, but my current GPU is not up to snuff for Adobe and their GPU assist features (welcome to be corrected on this, but it's what I've been lead to understand in my reading thus far). I originally built this computer for photo editing tasks, but I've started editing video on it and it's really starting to show it's limitations. For reference I film on an iPhone 14Pro in 4K60FPS, and this is not something I'm going to change anytime soon (I understand the codec for this format has it's drawbacks as well).
Current System Specs
i7-8700K (overclocked to 4.9ghz)
32gb DDR4-3200 memory
500gb Samsung 970pro NVME drive (where Premiere is installed and files during edits - I have other drives for long term storage)
R7 370 4gb
Asus Tuf Gaming Z370 Mobo
Corsair HX620 PSU
Dell 4K Display (U2718 I believe - at work and can't check)
Windows 10 pro OS
I am not currently looking into anything brand new, as the entire system is dated. I'm not sure if this is sacrilegious on these boards but an M4 Mac Mini would suite my needs as well (use PC for long term file storage), so an upgrade nearing this value (I am Canadian, M4 Mini is around $800+tax for base model) would most likely push me in this direction (welcome to be corrected on this outlook). My current searching over the last few months as lead me to believe that cards like a 1080ti or 3060 12gb would be decent options for this task, but I'm open to other options. Prefer to keep budget as close to $300CAD, could stretch to $400 (used pricing so who knows what cards will go for in the coming months) if it'll be worth the jump.
Thanks for reading, I did search your boards prior to posting but didn't see anything that was conclusive to my situation. If I've broken a rule (I did read them) or mis-stepped please let me know and I'll correct it.
