New year pc problems.

Hi first day of the year and I got problems, I unplugged my tower to install a second ssd which is no problem but when I plugged it back in nothing happened so I reversed what I done and still nothing happened. I checked the sockets and there is power going to the tower I noticed the little red button on the top right of the motherboard flashes when I turn the power on but that is all, any ideas.

Your best bet is to disassemble and then reassemble. In the process of which you can check that everything is in order and make sure all switches are set to on etc. also power bars and then the other devices in between your computer and it's power source

Whenever I get into a situation that has my computer not turning on I tend to disassemble it down to just the processor and a single stick of RAM and then work up from there

What does the debug LED say?

Sometimes my PC wont start but it does after hitting the reset button.

Where do I find the LED, as for the re-assemble i will leave that till tomorrow and keep my fingers crossed about the power supply.

It should be in the top right corner of the motherboard. Is that your motherboard?

Sorry it's not lit but when I turn the switch on the power supply on the push button PW SW flickers, no fans no nothing.

It seems to be the power supply. I have a similar issue. I hit the power button to turn on the PC and the led on the button starts flickering or blinking then I hit restart as fast as I can and the PC boots fine.

the only PSU I can get my hands on is a Corsair TX750 is that any good or else I will have to buy one.

Hi installed the 750 power supply a minute ago and no joy not even a flicker, I am going to give it another go tomorrow if no joy tomorrow help what could it be.

If its no go its possible the board is bunk

If it wont turn on still I would take it out of the case and try the bear minimum (cpu, mobo, psu, and 1 stick of ram) no HDD no SSD. Could it possibly be the power button on your case? Try starting the pc with a screwdriver or just disconnect the power and reset switch and connect the reset as the power switch.

I forgot about that but as it can be seen on the picture I posted he's boards has that button.

Yeah if it doesnt work after that, it might be plausible to check the cpu socket for bent pins or burn marks, if there are none the board probably bit the dust.

Hi just got round to testing my power supply and the fan started straight away so my PSU is okay is there anyway I can test the motherboard.

I had a similar issue about 14-16 months back. Shut the system down and unplugged all the cables. Moved the tower to the table and just did some general cleaning. I didn't remove anything other than dust filters, I didn't use canned air on the tower and used a tooth brush to clean up some fan fins. I plugged everything back in and not a thing from the MB.

I tried multiple PSUs.
I pulled everything apart and tested just the MB, 1 stick of RAM and CPU on a cardboard box - nothing.

MB kicked the bucket on me.

If you test the MB with multiple PSUs while she's just sitting on a cardboard box with the CPU, heatsink, 1 stick of RAM and a you can't get power through the board, she's toast.

Hi I have just tried the motherboard on a box but nothing happened other than the power switch top right on the motherboard it flickered as I turned the power on and I tried it with two working power supplies.

cookiemonster 1 last thing to try, take the board out of the case, put on a non metal surface, hook up the minimum equipment, take cpu out and inspect for burnt or damaged/bent socket pins. If none, put cpu back in with 1 module of ram in applicable slot, if you have a spare rig that is compatible swap in gpu, ram, if no boot replace the rig and sell off the cpu. It really sounds like the motherboard but only testing your parts in other rigs or putting in known good parts in yours can help
