I don't take PassMark or GeekBench too seriously, but this is really interesting:

So, for the 1s time in PassMark benchmark suite since 2004, desktop CPU YoY performance has declined.

Windows 11 might not be the entirely the source of this phenomenon.

What are you thought? Who is to blame?

I think it is obvious i have many people which i help with pc choices based on what they need for what they are doing with it.
The current hardware really is for most way too powerfull for what they do with the machine.
So they do not upgrade at all anymore as the one they got is already over the top.
Talking about overkill a friend for instance who has a heavy factory oc'ed 4090 and guess what he is playing on his computer .........
It starts with Pat..... sure has some other programs but nothing he has in that machine can not be done with a Pentium 5 pc from the pc middle ages
Many of them have bought a game pc but kinda 90 % of them does not run games or even other programs that are making the machines work for their money spend on them.
In my opinion just to impress family and friends for nothing other than bragging.
Now many of them seem to understand that this is a throwing money at it for nothing, and asked me what todo for the near future
In most cases i have to say your machine can cope with everything in the coming 10 to 15 years with ease so stop to throw money away for nothing and spoil your wife and/or kids even more.
