Moderate hearing loss is in the cards for probably most people; life damages our hearing more than we know. As a lapsed musician (Orchestral and Rock flutist), my high-end hearing is pretty bad. I sometimes find myself turning my head to hear people more clearly, blaming my long hair for mis-hearing; and in a noisy crowd, forget it, I'm cupping my ears to hear you.

There might be an acceptable solution.

I'm over 60, and I wear bifocal readers for convenience (no need to take them off). I have never liked the idea of getting hearing aids; I don't even like earbuds, and found some open-ear headphones for the gym. Then again, I hated the idea of getting glasses too, 'til I started keeping reading glasses in strategic parts of the house "just in case." These, however, might just be the ticket! They have mics in the frames and invisible speakers built into the arms - like the Meta glasses - but they are "Smart" in that they can be set to multiple modes and filters, including directional to focus on the person in front of you.

They aren't "streaming" glasses, so they won't be replacing your ear buds; they have connectivity for setting, but they appear to only have on-board functionality. Still, if you are a little more mature than you used to be, and starting to experience some of those things we deny as long as possible, these might be worth keeping on the radar.

They apparently received FDA and EU clearances earlier this month, and I got an email from LensCrafters about them this morning.
