Hello i just purchased a Msi Rtx 4090 Gaming X Slim 24g, the cable that came with is a 3x 8pin to 16pin i heard alot about these connectors and the melting part so i rathcer not use the one that came with the card.

But i can se there are 4x 8 pin cables and 3x 8 pin cables do i get some extra performance out if i use a 4x 8pin my psu is super flower leadex 2000w and im using 4 pci-e slots on the psu each for 1 cable so it dossent get power though a single rail.

but is there benefits of using a 4x 8pin connector? in terms of perfomance or some other thing pehaps?

The included cables are fine. 4x8pin allows for up to 600w and 3x8pin up to 450. If your card came with 3x8pin then it's power limited to 450w so the 4x8pin cable won't do anything.

Stay with the cable that came with the GPU, make sure all the connectors (both ends, GPU side and PSU side x 3) are properly plugged in.

If you have a PSU that has the 12+4 connector and also came with a cable for these GPU's then I'd use that instead of the cable that came with the GPU.

If you purchased this GPU new from a shop, then it should be using the new "12+4" connector (AKA 12V-2x6).

Multi-rail PSUs died about 15 years ago. Your power supply likely has one big fat 12V rail that is rated for about the entire capacity of the unit. The adapter works fine, it's just ugly. You should look for an aftermarket cable compatible with your supply.

So it wont just be safer to use the 4x 8 pin in form of heat?

Will i harm my system using a 4x 8 pin? instead of the 3x 8 pin

It's safer as to avoid overloading the cables (so you did right by wiring it one by one), but it won't make a difference as to balancing the power supply itself. It's better that way.

Is yours the SF-2000F14HP Leadex Platinum? If it's that one, I can see that the power connectors on the back look to be the same from my EVGA 1300 G2 (also a Super Flower Leadex design), if so, the CableMod E-series I bought for my 4080 will also likely work for you. Just need to do some extra research on that.

No, just plug it in properly..... If your psu makers has a dedicated 2x 8pin to 12VHPWR cable I would grab one otherwise use what it came with.

So if i do get a 4x 8pin my card will still only use 450w as its specced to?

Yes, it looks like this specific 4090 model is designed not to draw more than 450 W. But with 3x 8-pin adapter, this is a hard limit, with 4x 8-pin adapter or a proper cable, you should be able to go higher if the BIOS allows power limit adjustments upwards. Not that I would advise anyone to do that, it's a lot of heat to deal with. Anyway, the cable for your card should be just like the one I got for mine, 2000 W Leadex Platinum is on the compatibility list.

Yes, 450w is more than enough for a 4090 at 600w you are getting 5-8% more performance and that is if you are lucky with the GPU lottery yours doesn't support 600w afaik not even the suprim models did from memory.

Assuming the cooling on the card can sustain clocks at that wattage and you have an AC sitting next to your PC or really low ambient.

Card is awesome at stock and can be undervolted to use less power at roughly the same performance.

It doesn't matter, all the cables are wired to the same rail, I'd actually go for the 3x 8pin, less chances of something not being plugged properly.

The included cables are fine. 4x8pin allows for up to 600w and 3x8pin up to 450. If your card came with 3x8pin then it's power limited to 450w so the 4x8pin cable won't do anything.
Not entirely true
"ATX spec is outdated. If you have a decent PSU, you can pull 384 Watts from a single 8pin. Officially 150w is the limit."

If what you said was true, then why do Corsair and Super Flower cables feature two 8 pins , yet can support 600w.

Multi-rail PSUs died about 15 years ago.
most multi rials back then were really single rails with splits or even mislabeled. True multi rails PSUs back then would typically start around 1000w but regardless virtually all OEMs use single rail now for most of the line up other maybe the largest wattage unit(s).
