£500 for a GTX? Hello November 2006.

The GTX is available for around the £240 mark.

It would be best to start a new thread asking for a spec list rather than asking for it in a news post.

Back to the op, I am not too impressed by that cooler, it doesn't seem to offer that much surface area.

Guess that tilts the scales. Everything new in the world of computer are going to come up in China. Goodbye Sunnyvale.

8800 GS? Nyaah. The 768 MB memory means nothing but a marketing gimmick vis-a-vis 1GB 8600 GT.

Noticed that too, but this explains it:

"Though this is a Yeston card, but other brand’s first shipment of 8800GS will all look the same, they are all made by Palit."

They dont outsell the 3850's. Nvidia are actually frightened of those.
I guess these 8800 are ftw/wtf editions.

You actually may be right there as NVidia have nothing from it's current generation thats that low end and therefore that low priced and thats where ther largest proportion of the market share is(I appreciate "current generation" is a little foggy ATM where NVidia are concerned) so I spose I mean after the 8600GTS/8600GT. However, I think the plan is that come March, when the 9800 series cards and the other flock of "bolt on, superglued together" mutant hybrids of existing technology are released, you may well find that the 8800GT 512MB is $10 cheaper than an HD3870 and the 256MB 8800GT $10 cheaper than the HD3850.....thats purely speculation on my part but it would make considerable sense in my opinion, then I would only guess that NVida wouldnt be worried.

I don't get the point in 768 MB of memory on a 192 bit wide bus. It's like sqeezing a whale through the sewers much like how the 8600 and HD2600 cards had 512 MB variants on a 128 bit wide bus.

I am sure the manufacturing the 3850's and 3870's would become cheaper too since I am sure they recovered the cost to set up the fab plant. The 3850's and 70's will be cheaper to make due to smaller manufacturing process. Also the 3850/70 x2 would scale much better than "Nvidia's mutant ninja turtles"(referring to its green colour) due to high scalability of cross fire and single PCB.
This is the "That (38)70's Show"

I am sure the manufacturing the 3850's and 3870's would become cheaper too since I am sure they recovered the cost to set up the fab plant. The 3850's and 70's will be cheaper to make due to smaller manufacturing process. Also the 3850/70 x2 would scale much better than "Nvidia's mutant ninja turtles"(referring to its green colour) due to high scalability of cross fire and single PCB.
This is the "That (38)70's Show"

Where did they set up the fab plant again?? All ATi GPU's are fabbed in Canada and assembled in Taiwan. There isn't a new fab as such.

If you're referring to the fabrication machinery, that cost can be recovered even by the sale of a few dozens of wafers.
