Hello everyone. I am building new gaming pc for 1440p. I am debating betwean RTX 4070 super 12gb or RX7800XT 16GB. My biggest question is does ray tracing and dlss 3.5 make huge difference in gaming experience, and does AMD cards have ray tracing and dlss 3.5 options. Or should i ignore that and just go for better graphic card (RX7800XT)? Thanks

AMD cards do not have DLSS. They use FSR upscaling and frame generation which is hardware agnostic, not (yet) AI trained models, and have inferior performance due to this. They can also make use of the "compatibility kernel" for XeSS, which in many games offers a superior experience to FSR, but is still not quite as good as DLSS.
AMD cards have no equivalent to the 3.5 "ray reconstruction".

At both raster and RT performance the 4070 S is faster than the 7800XT.

The 4070S is also significantly more energy efficient.

Welcome to tpu
We need more info... what kinda games do you want to play?

i assume its 2560x1440p... and not 3440x1440p ultrawide...
If its me.... for Nvidia... i'd get the RTX 4070ti Super
for AMD ... i'd get the RX7900GRE or RX7900XT

I want to play all new AAA games on 2560x1440p, with best possible image quality and frame rate. My budget is around 550 euros for graphic card. So what should i buy?

If you can afford it with 550 euros, get the 4070S.

Well just from the basics the 4070 S is a decent bit faster overall than the RX 7800 XT. So if that is your choices, then I would go with a 4070S.

However, for similar pricing and more performance you may want to look at a RX 7900 GRE. Now both cards are very close in performance, really only difference is a couple percent in the GRE's favor (Which is not much) but a decent difference in performance in ray tracing in the 4070 S favor. As for DLSS, AMD has FSR and on average DLSS is better performance overall but they both work. Another thing to think about is the time you keep your cards. Because longevity can be a concern in terms of overall performance over time. Mostly that is due to how much memory the card has, which in this case if you go with the 7900 GRE has 4gb more. That being said 12gb is still quite a lot in this day and age and is holding decently, but memory has been jumping alot in the last couple generations.

Personally, its a tough call if you do my second option. If its the first, then I would definitely go with the RTX 4070 S.

Ryzen 7 5700X, 32GB DDR 4, 1TB SSD m.2 RTX 4070 super 12GB. I think it should be good.
TBH I'd grab a 57/5800X3D too, they don't just improve averages, but fix the min FPS problem non X3D chips have.

The 5700X is slower than a 12400, whereas the 5800X3D is faster than a Zen 4 7600/7900, without having to buy a new motherboard and RAM.

Should be able to get $150 for the 5700X, put in another $75 and you have a 5700X3D.

What PSU do you have?

Nvidia is better, dlss 3.5 is amazing in single player games like Alan Wake 2. DLAA is amazing as well. The 4070 is more energy efficient too.

You're going to have to make up your own mind about ray tracing and DLSS. Opinions vary from one end of the spectrum to the other.
AMD does have hardware RT, but it's well behind Nvidia.

Why do you think RX7800XT is "better graphic card"?

You're building so hopefully you haven't bought your CPU yet. I see the 5700X at $162 and the 5700X3D at $200 in the US. That extra $38 for the 5700X3D is absolutely worth it with the 4070 Super. That is the pair you should be using.

Let's make one thing clear: DLSS is an upscaling algorithm. It is meant to make a lower resolution image look slightly less crap. It is not meant to transform your gaming experience to different heights.

AMD cards do not have DLSS, but they have FSR which in its current version is pretty similar. So don't let this be the decisive factor in your purchase. ;)

With that said, both the 4070 Super and the 7800 XT can be great buys depending on price. The 7800 XT has more VRAM which may be beneficial in some cases, but the 4070 Super has slightly faster RT. You decide which feature you care about more. :)

When looking at similar performing graphics cards I like to do a breakdown of what I think their Pros and cons are keep in mind these are based on my own personal use case and may not apply to you.

4070 super
Pros

DLSS
Decent RT performance
Efficient

Features although nvidia is quick to lock out it's users after a gen or 2 from getting new ones DLSS3 is a good example and we are late in the generation 5000 could get somthing that gives you major fomo. So I guess this could fit in both categories.

Cons

12GB of vram which if image quality and RT are important could become an issue in future games currently it's more than adequate.

7900GRE

Pros
Good raster although similar to the 4070S

OK RT probably the RDNA 3 card that gets hit the least hard although forget PT or maxing out CP2077/Witcher 3 NG although I would argue even the 4070 super isn't capable of that so for an amd card this one's ok given the cost

16GB Vram for slight piece of mind.

OC headroom, these seem to match 7900XT when tweaked

Cons
FSR is still behind DLSS and while it is ok in a pinch at 4k at 1440p and lower it's pretty inferior.
Power consumption when tweaked/OC is much higher.
Amd always playing catchup on features also RDNA 4 might be out towards the end of the year be faster with better RT.

I'd skip the 7800xt the GRE is worth a slight price premium so unless it's significantly cheaper it's a pass imho.

The ideal card for 1440P RT probably starts at the 4070ti super I'd honestly not want to use it on a 4070 super still everyone's ok min perfomance is different.

That being said I use a 4090 for 1440p RT and feel it's barely enough so I'm probably in the minority when it comes to ok level of perfomance.

You can't really go wrong with either I'd lean slightly towards the 4070 super but the GRE has some strong points if you don't feel it's downsides are a deal breaker.
