Old laptop 850mhz has display problems

Inspiron 4000 using a latitude c600 mobo to use faster 850mhz p3. I notice the video connector inside the laptop is having contact with gold connector pins of pcmcia i suspect and that's why the display is wrong.

Question can i put a antistatic bag between the conector and the pcmcia like in the photos?.

What is wrong with the display? Unless the jacketing on the cable is compromised, i kind of doubt that is the issue. I don't think it would hurt, but i'd try something non-conductive (like a thin piece of hard plastic). Anti-static bags are conductive on the outside.

Sure, if the problem is that the ribbon cable shorts on the pins below. No harm in trying. But that depends on what exactly the problem is, and some photos might be of help.

Look under the ribon cable and make sure it's not damaged, look at the connector and jack and make sure they aren't damaged, if no signs of either, the monitor itself or controller card on the laptop mainboard is bad.

cable is not damaged appears to be intact, I want to try a film of something to place between that ribbon cable and the pcmcia pins to get good display possibly. Here's a video

just tried with a piece of paper still bad display. Was this enough to test for interferance? now i don't think tape would work.

That shows me the display matrix or w/e circuitry inside of that part is bad, or the display controller on the motherboard is bad
