onboard hdmi + monitor can be use with external gpu ?

i'm sorry for the question i'm a bit confused and not really know how to type it in short....
i'm doing quite a small pc mini itx and i connect it to another portable monitor
so if i connect the EGPU to the m2 slot so do i have to plug my monitor hdmi cable out and connect it the the EGPU ?

well if you want the performance of your EGPU then yes you will need to connect your monitor to it (Please see the NOTE below). A EGPU is nothing more than an external box that is set up with a power supply and a spot to connect a full size desktop GPU of your choice of either AMD or Nvidia GPU's

which come with a GTX 1070 already installed in the EGPU enclosure.

you would then need to still buy GPU if you don't have one your going to use and install the graphic card into the External GPU enclosure which will connect to your laptop or week desktop for use with gaming. the Monitor will hook up to the Graphic Card that is installed in the EGPU enclosure.
Like in this image below but NOTE that then another monitor cable will go from the EGPU to a Monitor.

NOTE: Also from what I understand , is that these devices are able to feed the internal display of a laptop too by feeding the video back threw the display port and to the internal display and I heard there is a little bit of a hit to performance using it that way but nothing huge. WARNING if you need to use it on an internal diplay like on a laptop verify with the manufacture first that theirs works like that! Also be sure the laptop has the correct connections for this!!!

@DRDNA thank you , i just check it out by using internal display the performance loss quite considerable so i think i will add another portable display should be better.
