Hi Guys,

1. I have Dell 5559 6th Gen i7 , 16GB RAM 2TB HDD
2. I installed Samsung 850 EVO SSD 500GB in DVD Tray
3. Did partition like 500GB SSD ( 100GB installation drive + REST 400GB data drive) and 2TB HDD ( 1TB data drive + 1TB data drive)
4. But I can only see 99GB in computer.
5. OS is Windows 10 Enterprise

all of the space is there.

hdd manufacturers and partition software calculate space in SI units which is base 10. so 1mb = 1000kb

Windows calculated in base 2 so 1megabyte =1024kb

because windows calculates it a bit (like a little not an actual bit lol) higher it makes the drive look smaller.

all of the drive space is there, what you see is completely normal. the OS also has a few small partitions for recovery and MBR which also take some space away.

You have to assign each partition a drive letter.

In Disk Management, right click each partition you want to show up in Computer, and select "Change Drive Letter and Paths..." Then assign the letter you want to the partition. Normally Windows assigns driver letters automatically, but for some reason it didn't in your case.

Obviously you don't want to assign drive letters to those two little partitions on the SSD(Disk1), since those are system partitions you don't want to be messing with. Come to think of it, I don't even think Windows will allow you to assign drive letters to those...

I think he means he can't see his other drives.

Wow! It just worked @newtekie1, I gave them drive letter ! Very simple task! Actually I had given names like SSD and 2TB_1 and 2TB_2 earlier but was not aware of such step of giving Drive letter names.

Thanks a lot!

Well, I have one question:-
I bought 500GB SSD to use as boot drive and install some 6 to 8 Virtual machines on it sized 20GB TO 40GB each so that they too run faster, so is it ok to have separate 400GB (365GB in real) as separate partition to installed VM machines or use whole SSD as single drive ?

Does it make any difference in performance ?

Not really, in short this used to matter for hard drives if you had special software that crated the partitions toward the center of the drive. However this configuration does not matter for SSDs
