Overclocking ROG Astral 5080 - Power Limited

Hello. I am trying to OC and get the most out of my ROG Astral 5080.

Recently, asus released a vbios update that allows for up to 450w power draw. This translates to an ability to set the power target in GPU Tweak 3 to 112%.

I have made this configuration, and confirmed it's being picked up with gpu-z. I also have the latest nvidia drivers, and latest version of gpu tweak 3.

I am seeing a problem running furmark, as well as any game I play when I'm monitoring power usage, where it seems the gpu is being limited at roughly 300w.

Interestingly, 300w was the tdp of my last gpu (4070Ti ventus oc). So I assumed it was a driver issue. I ran DDU in safe mode, then did a clean install of the latest nvidia driver. This still hasn't resolved the issue.

I also played with the nvidia control panel settings to ensure I wasn't being limited by vsync, and that the power settings prioritize performance.

Additionally, I ran cmd in admin mode and ran "nvidia-smi --reset-gpu-clocks" and "nvidia-smi --reset-memory-clocks", but this had no impact either.

Still have the same issue where the gpu believes the tdp is much lower than 450w/ won't consume more than 300ish watts.

Attaching screenshots of my configurations and what I'm seeing. Anyone have any tips/idea on what's going on?

Thanks

The TDP and TGP are 2 different things.

TDP is the GPU die. Should hit 360w. The rest of the card limits, for total graphics power at 450w. This probably accounts for vram and fans, any other board power.

According to your screen shots, your TDP is 37w shy of maxed out.

Ah nice catch, I missed that Furmark was listing TDP, not TGP. That makes a little more sense.....but it's strange that Furmark is saying it's at 100% TDP even when it's not consuming the full 360W.
