Packet loss!

Hello All! I have been having issues virtually across all my games for sometime here.. I have done things like change my mtu size, forward ports, putting my pc into dmz mode.. ETC..

My specs are as follows,

MSI MPG B550
AMD Ryzen 9 5900X
Gigabyte rtx 3060
Corsair rm 750x
CORSAIR Vengeance LPX 32GB@ 3600mhz
Crucial MX500 1TB 3D NAND

To add the ISP has been out to fix this issue, it helped and got it down a bit. But still it can spike all the way up to 15% at all times.

So how did the isp fix it? What is the network type you are on?

There was a faulty line outside and it would happen to be dsl. We have a 50 mbps package, although we get 60 usually.

How does a speedtest.net screen capture relate to packet loss?

Ok from the NID to the modem is it a direct home run consisting of at least Cat 5? Or are you using a pre-existing phone jack?

Are you using ethernet or wifi?

Have you thought about a modem swap?

Is it bonded pair or is it line vectoring?

Depending on which speed test server you use will show you different connection results.

Benchmark Scores I dont have time for that.

Excellent, causing packet fragmentation, opening ports, and placing your machine infront of protection are 3 things that dont fix packet loss at all :)

It is connected via ethernet cat6 I believe. And i believe it is two seperate lines. One pulls 25 and so does the other

I recall in 2013/14 to be able to have 45Mbps for AT&T you had to be within 2000 ft of a VRAD/DSLAM for bonded pairs.

Makes me think there might be tons of scotchlocks on the pairs or corrosion at the terminal/splice (terminal is where the drop wire goes from nid (phone box) on home to rest of network, splice is further from home, closer to the dsla. It's possible the cards at the DSLAM (where the pairs go from fttn to copper) might be weak as well.

Attenuation is a problem for sure over certain distances.

Make sure the cat 6 isn't kinked/pinched by a staple as well, or near power wires.

The lightning arrestors in the nid can cause problems as well, i wonder if you have a POTS filter or 2 in your nid as well

Id have them back out and have them show you on the Test Set/JDSU they use showing the connectivity being 25Mbps at the nid. If it shows that then the trouble could be those lightning arrestors, filters, cat 6 homerun, jack, the rj11 cord or the modem or ethernet from modem to pc.

HOLYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY

I barely understood what you meant earlier lol, but I did see a device he had that showed the 2 lines and what they were running at.

I used to work for AT&T, it's why I know this info lol.

Just remember different speedtest.net servers give different connection results.

I also meant 25Mbps on each pair at the nid (demarcation point of their plant to your home wiring)

If they provide fiber to the prem/home, Id switch to that as bonded pairs back in 2013 were a pita to keep stable/balanced

Also no kinks anywhere in the ethernet or the dsl line.. I'm installing some new cords here this weekend. Guess I could update again at that time

Sad to say fiber isnt an option lol

Must not have enough demand to get the fiber from the dslam for last mile up to the home yet, my neighborhood just got it 2 months ago and the vrad/dslam is down by a bridge where i live
