PC doesn't boot after sleeping - CPU LED light ON

As above, when the pc goes into sleep, I am unable to wake the PC, it attempts to start as such, motherboard and peripherals light up but with a CPU LED on.

I re-seated everything and re-installed the CPU, cleared CMOS and nothing.

I flashed the BIOS via USB and the system boots back to the same screen that was left during sleep, same programs open, browser still on the same page ect... - except the PC has been cycled on/off multiple times, psu out, held power button, the works.

It seems to be having a problem waking from sleep and the only way I get it back on is to flash the latest bios.

This is the second time I've had to reflash to make it boot, I just tested to see if it was fixed but nope, sleep creates this problem over and over.

I can restart and shutdown multiple times with no issue.

System is Ryzen 5800x with B450 motherboard (B450M Mortar Max)

any suggestions?

I've disabled sleep and hybrid sleep for now, but there's clearly an underlying issue here

You need to go into the BIOS advanced mode and look for the Wake Up Event Setup settings. You might have to set it to OS from BIOS and enable Resume by USB Device (If you are not using a PS2 Mouse and Keyboard).

In the motherboard BIOS:
Power Supply Idle Control = Typical Current Idle
ErP Ready = Enable(S5)
Energy Star Ready = Disabled

Make sure to use AMD updated chipset driver

Make sure to use updated LAN driver from Realtek site
For Windows 10 https://www.realtek.com/en/directly-download?downloadid=f6e58a4904a5d8d3ae2922fd2384e44b
For Windows 11 https://www.realtek.com/en/directly-download?downloadid=eccccccb7644977c0b28eca9796ae838

Disable Windows Hibernate

Disable Core Isolation and Memory Integrity

IF still have problems, in Power Options

OK I did those things, except for core isolation (not in the settings)

The pc won't boot from shutdown now either

Weirdly, flicking the power switch off and back on whilst the ez debug led cpu light is on, the light turns off and the system boots...

You can disable by using the registry, unpack the attached file and double click the REG file.

That is very strange!
I am out of ideas, sorry.

try booting with one stick of ram...

I would check if the PC can pass some memory test.

Get the http://www.numberworld.org/y-cruncher/
The test # 14 FFT - Fast Fourier Transform is for RAM test.
Press 1+enter>7+enter>0+enter and let it run the test #14 for 3 times.

Thanks for your help, all tests passed 5 times though.

no difference, motherboard turns on with the CPU led debug. If i cycle the back of the PSU (on/off button) - after a few tries, it clears the CPU led and boots as normal. no errors on windows or any bios messages

Update: The pc now boots from shutdown and sleep. I can only assume it was core isolation.

I also use a program called process lasso for some misbehaving applications, i completely reset the settings in case something in there was causing an issue.

will continue to stress and test the system to ensure stability.

You are welcome.

Thanks for reporting back.
Some driver is misbehaving when Core Isolation is enabled.

Obviously it's not ideal having it disabled. Would you have any idea how to troubleshoot it?

Thanks for your efforts

I am glad to help, it is some older driver you or Microsoft installed.
Remove all drivers and only install brand new ones, if you are unable to discover the
culprit do a clean Windows installation and make sure to only install brand new drivers.
Also disable Windows automatic driver installation.

BTW, I prefer to keep Core Isolation disabled as it lower the PC performance.

Realtek links are no good. The server bans direct linking, reminding me of AMD's driver web site for Windows drivers. Appears to give a download-banned message in Chinese.
And there was no 'bot involved!

Here's the page:

Realtek makes it more difficult than Intel, Nvidia and AMD, for downloading the latest driver updates. :(

Luckily, this page should be easy enough. There is also a CAPTCHA test!

Bad news update.

The problem is back with zero changes to the system.

I can still cycle the psu on/off multiple times to clear the cpu led and get the system to boot

disconnect all USB Devices on your system....except for keyboard and mouse...try booting again..

Unfortunately that didn't help. I since couldn't boot the pc any way other than reflashing every time.

I have installed a new asrock b550 m/b with no issues currently. Will report back.

my system is Ryzen 5600x with B450 motherboard (B450M Mortar) . i have same issues .
I start the PC, motherboard CPU debug LED on and cpu fan run fast.
i replace my 5600x by 2600. i can start my pc. but it always shutdown suddenly and cpu fan run fast.
