Recently bought new parts for a build and installed windows 10. Everything works normaly but when I booted to windows and checked task manager and resource monitor it said that 16gb were installed and only 8gb are used and the other ones are system reserved(task manager says so). Tried somethings like updating bios to 5.90 (Asrock doesn’t recommend any newer for r5 1600 af) and ryzen chipset drivers.
system specs:
r5 1600 af
asrock ab350m pro4
ram one both sticks are samsung but from different sets one has an hp sticker but both are 2666mhz
ssd nvme 120
sata 256
gtx 1650 super pegasus
psu fsp 400w.

Try to boot with one stick at a time, you may have a faulty stick.

Try loading the computer with tasks demanding enough that it needs more than 8 GB of RAM. Have the system monitor running at the same time.

Best to buy a new set so they match, as I mentioned before a 2x8 GB DDR4 kit is cheap these days.

Since no-one managed to spot the obvious, I guess I have to point it out, as it's in one of the OP's pictures.

8.1 GB of RAM is hardware reserved. This is some dumbass thing Windows does sometimes, so the RAM appears to be just fine, it's just that Windows won't let you use it.
The only way I have found to solve this, is to re-install Windows. There are supposedly some other ways that might work, but haven't for me when I had this issue some years ago.

I've had the same on a config where one stick of RAM was bad. It's not necessarily a software issue.

I don't think Windows is the issue, when OP says :
But you can read what it says on the screen no? That means the RAM is working, as the system is detecting 16 GB.
I've had this exact issue and I'm not alone.

One way to clear this up is use a live distro, if it's just an OS problem the RAM should show up on at least one of the many Linux options out there!

That RAM stick's visibly broken, you could probably fix it by resoldering that resistor but, as mentioned before RAM is very, very cheap these days. Especially low end RAM. Might as well just buy another kit and be done with it, even if on a very tight budget. A nice 32 GB DDR4 kit can be had for less than $50 these days.
