PC headset microphone picking up headphone audio

Here's a highly odd issue I've been having with an Asus H7 headset I've bought recently. I've had people tell me that they can hear my audio through my microphone, such as music, Youtube and the like. I thought, ok, maybe there is a crosstalk issue. I started troubleshooting the problem, and, as I sat there listening to the sound coming from my microphone trying to isolate the crosstalk to a specific thing on my setup, I unplugged the microphone from my headset, still being able to hear its audio, mind you. That isn't so much a weird thing, except that I COULD STILL HEAR MY MICROPHONE even with it unplugged on my desk. What. Even.
Any help would be very much appreciated, since I am not exactly versed in the field of analog audio.

You should at least read up abit about a product that you are buying. Like maybe read the quick start guide? The product page on the website? The marketing blurb on the box?
This headset has two mics. That's all there is to it. You detach the boom mic, the in-line mic still exists and works. Nothing surprising there.

Needless to say that I feel embarrassed after missing that detail. I was under the impression that the toggle switch on the cable was for the microphone altogether. Next time I'll pay closer attention to the documentation, if not do some dang research beforehand.
