Hi guys, my pc has some mysterious issue that I can't figure out no matter what, I've read lot of online materials and also YouTube, basically have tried everything in my view, as:
- replaced Psu with new one
- removed all components like ram, gpu, disconnected hard drives etc and reconnect cables carefully done and fit everything. But yet this power cycle won't go away!

Pc specs:
-Motherboard Asus maximus vii ranger Intel Z97 chipset
-Cpu i7-4770s
-Gpu Asus gtx 1050ti
-12.gb ram hyperx
-120gb ssd and 500gb hdd

The only way that managed to boot normally was when I removed cmos battery and let pc disconnected from Psu and cmos for about 1hr,after that I place battery and Psu and pc will turn on normally, this method will last for 2-3 days, as it happens again when I turn pc on the same issue that I had will be manifested (after 2-3 days), I call this mistery bcoz if it was motherboard dead it would not boot up after what I did (mentioned above) all components works normal when I'm on windows, if someone could help me I appreciate a lot, its been 1 month and everyday I wakeup I'm afraid the pc won't turn on as today, thank u again I hope someone has the idea!

Do you have a second pc to swap part's between?.
No unfortunately I only have this one for 5 years already. But do you think its some part faulty causing this? If yes, why would it power on after detaching cmos battery for 1hr. And then works as usual in Windows 10pro.

Well if I had to guess you are resetting it's config.

Question would be why is it corrupting.

Try removing one stick of ram and test it, if the same try just the other stick.

Report back I'm about often.

Also looking at the pic you have ram in slots A1 and B1 , usually A2 and B2 are filled first so try all slots too though one at a time.

12 GB ? Is that 8 + 4GB ?

Ideally, a Dual Channel Board wants to see a matched pair of sticks that came in the same package. A "matched pair" would be installed in slots A2 and B2 (red ones). It is possible to install unmatched pairs but system puts the 4GB and and 4 GB of the 8GB in dual mode and the last 4 GB in single channel so it crimps performance. So yes, it's supposed to work but Id rule that out before continuing.

If you do have an unmatched pair (8GB + 4GB, try just using the 8GB in slot A2. Pic of page 1-10 of your manual

Ranger Ram.jpg

Also if you are using them in XMP, try one of the JEDEC profiles on the SPD (Use CPUz) o see what they are.

3. What is DRAM voltage ... up to 1.65 is OK

4. DIMMS must have the same CAS latency ... check the SPD and see what they are for each module. If necessary , manually set both to the more reaxed of the two timing (one with higher numbers).

5. Read page 1-11 of your manual

6. Check to see if your memory is on the QVL ... starts onn page 12. I'd look but ya speca dont include individual stick sine and model numbers

7. Run Memtest 86+ with RAM in the correct slots before going to sleep, check for errors when ya wake up. If it fails, try 1 stick at a time in the A2 slot

Thank you guys I'm on windows now it booted,
My Ram was 3x4gb 2sticks were identical hyperx but the third stick was different, so I removed that one, and now Im left with 8gb ram.

But, pls don't close the thread until 2-3days,because I still believe having cmos battery detached for 1hr it always allows me to boot at first try. So let's see if this issue is fixed while I had one stick of ram removed before connecting everything else{cmos, gpu, Psu}. And yes, I inserted a new cmos battery 1 week ago.

Thank you John, I had 3 stick of ram inserted, 2 of them are visible the black ones hyperx 2x4gb,but the third ram was different so I removed that one, I will attach a picture that I had in my motherboard manual book, it says a1 b1 first to be filled or no.. Also the third ram I removed will be shown in the pic, I'm thinking for 2 years they all worked together but still hopefully that stick was the culprit,
IMG_20201103_203008~2.jpg

funny that when I go to task manager/performance /memory now the speed shows 1867 mhz, but when I had the three Rams in it was 1333mhz,apparently that ram caused speed decrease and I never knew! Thank you again guys, I'll see how it goes next days, and I ill report if it's solved.

It happened again bro, as I wanted to turn it off bcoz sleep time, I thought first to try and enable vt-x in bios, so I restarted pc from windows while it was on, entered bios setting enabled virtualization, save settings, and normally since changes are made bios needs to turn system off and start again automatically, at this point it occurred the same issue again

I would try one or the other remaining memory stick on its own in A2 or B2.
And possibly at jedec 1333.
Seems like it's a memory timings issue to me, how long did you have the three stick's in?.

The three sticks have been used for 2 years or more, since yesterday I'm only using the 2 identical sticks only at placed them at slot A2 and B2 as suggested but this didn't resolve the power failure after shutdown, so yet the only way to boot is removing Psu and battery for 1 hour and place them back, only this way.
I'm wondering why its getting messed up, is it good to flash bios the same version, because bios is upto date since 2 years ago. But I thought maybe flashing again would help. Thank you.

I'm assuming it's the ssd drive damaged somehow, will have to buy a new one one day.

A bios flash is worth a try, did you try one memory stick at a time or lower speeds.

I did bios flashing it got done, but still the constant on-off state persist, I've tried one by one each ram but that's not solving the power up.

At this point I would try removing the CPU , carefully clean it's interconnect area with a pencil eraser, or isopropanol or both then refit it.
You can't reasonably clean the socket unfortunately don't try.

I can't do that because I have no idea how to doit, nor that I have pencil eraser or isopropanol.
The pc was at repair service (not under warranty), they replaced the Psu and probably it booted first time and they thought its fixed--1 week a go. But, apparently wasn't Psu problem. I wanted to say that the cpu is setup in the socket just 1 week ago.

Anyways bro thank u for your support, it seems like only God knows what's the issue. I literally give up, surrender.

If you paid someone to fix it, surely they warranty their work, see if he will have another look, you shouldn't have to pay IMHO.
