Hello everyone, long post ahead, so that i can explain what i already tried.

The moment i enable XMR or EXPO, my PC wont boot. I tried to change speed and timings manually, PC won't boot. When i update BIOS, PC wont boot. In all cases, im stuck at the screen as shown on the photo. I lose the USB power, so cant even interact with it. Need to hold the power up button to tun it off. After i turn it on, i can get into BIOS to change the settings.

I have tried two different DDR5 memory sticks. Corsair Vengeance 6400mt/s sticks and Kingston Fury 6000mt/s. Corsair is without EXPO certification, but Kingston have both XMR and EXPO and still didn't work.

The PC works only with the default 4800mt/s.

I thought to myself, that maybe the newly released CPU and BIOS are having fights. There are three more recent BIOS versions after the one that came with the motherboard. Tried all 3 and got (maybe) even worse issues - PC wouldn't even power up the GPU, and the Memory LED directly on the MB was on. So i just had a 'no input' screen on the monitor. Tried to connect the integrated GPU from the 9800x3d, with the same result.

Without any information to see i QFlashed the BIOS back to the version that came by default and the PC is alive again, but it seems bottlenecked by low RAM speed.

  • CPU: Amd 9800x3d
  • MB: Gigabyte Aorus B650E A Elite
  • RAM: DDR5 Corsair Vengeance 6400mt/s 2x 32GB or Kingston Fury 6000mt/s 2x 32GB
  • GPU: Gigabyte RTX 4080 Super Aero
  • PSU: Corsair RM1000x Shift
  • OS: Windows 11 Pro
I'm totally lost. I thank you for any ideas or help in advance.

So should i just pick a RAM from the Gigabyte's compatibility list? That would be a tough one because those specific models are not being offered in our market.
Either that or change motherboards, meaning not gigabyte.

Is the motherboard actually stuck, or it is memory training? How long do you wait until restarting?

Also does any CPU, DRAM or VGA debug LEDs come one?
It's stuck, because it didn't respond after an hour of not doing anything besides turning case fans.

CPU LED blinks once right after the power on. Neither GPU or Boot LEDs even shows they exist. Memory stays red.

I never had this issue before. Seems strange that components need to be very specific to work together, not just general compatibility by specs.

Oh yeah, the Fury was listed. DDR5 6000mt/s CL30. Not entirely sure which module, but i guess one of them.

Have you tried remounting your CPU cooler? Overtightening a cooler can cause boot/memory issues like this. What cooler are you using anyway?
Also have you tried using only one stick of ram and seeing if that can run at higher clocks?

I'm using Lian Li Galahad II Trinity. The AM5 bracket screws have a hard stop so it shouldn't be possible to overtight it.

I tried using dual channel in 2 and 4 slots, 1 and 3 slots, then(both after the bios update or using expo) i tried using a single stick in 1 through 4 of Corsair and later with one stick of Kingston.

I managed to boot the PC with 6000mt/s Corsair once. Going to bed and turning PC off ended my success.

I watched a Greg Salazar video on youtube that sounds similar, new cpu in a current model Gigabyte board, bios updates, constant crashing etc. Turns out it was the motherboard in that case.

I watched similar video not sure about the name, but he put EXPO settings manually and it worked. I might try to contact Gigabyte helpdesk about it then.

I assumed since the new E chipsets came out recently, they are future proof for at least Ryzen 9xxx's CPUs.

Well it sounds like it's getting stuck in training. I would CMOS reset or reflash and then load bios defaults. Then check your settings for memory training. Memory context restore and then should be more settings under AMD CBS/DDR options.
