peerless speakers-replacing drivers for higher quality tweeters drivers

I got a denon receiver + 4.1 set of peerless speakers from a friend who didnt want the bulk and bought a sound bar. nice standing speakers would be a shame to throw them out as just the enclosures are quite nice. the sound is meh. on one side, the midrange doesnt work.

is it a viable option to replace the tweeters/mid/midbass drivers or not worth investing in? maybe just replace the tweeters which is the most important to me.

found a pair of kef Q55 speakers in mint condition for $125 from a rich guy near my town. but those are for my pc's

I havent really had an urge to have a TV and my moms passing me her tv (havent had one for 17 years now, by choice) and have been thinking about getting one but im not into tv much. itd be strictly for movies and wanted the peerless to be for the tv. but the sound is so meh. especially when I have the kef to compare to, its pretty trash

Usually the crossover is designed around the drivers. Replacing them could (most likely) cause frequency response and probably phase issues, so I wouldn't recommend it.

how much would replacing crossovers and tweeters be? if I took out the crossover, is it possible to check specs and get better tweeters that would fit in?

so theres no tweeter that coulod fit the specs it already has? on partsexpress (I dont know where to find drivers really) theres a she*load of tweeters. certainly theres tweeters that can slip into the crossover or even get a crossover.

and also were not talking about focal speakers here. were talking about meh speakers to start with. certainly some improvement can be had with not much investment, no?

and such a shame as the enclosures are really nice. I guess thats how they market things. make it look impressive but put crepy hardware in it hahahaha

A new crossover would likely require a custom design, which would probably be really expensive, but it's possible that another tweeter could be "close enough". In that case, you'd have to talk to the tweeter dealer, or possibly the company that made the originals to see if something suitable is available.

It could be possible that someone has done this before. Searching DYI audio forums with the make and model of the tweeter might find a suitable alternative.

haha, there would be no reason to get new tweeters from the same company that makes the bad tweeters. im looking to upgrade, and that brand is not great

I think first thing ill do is open it and see whats inside. get access to crossover. maybe theres some specs on it and the tweeter

are there other places that sell drivers worth buying from other then partsexpress?

New drivers = new crossover always. The only exception would be if the two drivers are basically the same with a different diaphragm but similar material like AL and Ti but then they are going to sound the same as well.

Also, not sure where you are getting the idea that Peerless doesn't make good drivers because thats about as from from reality as you can get.
