hi guys,

im new on the forum.

i got an issue with my setup.

my setup:

i9 13900k
RTX 3090 EVGA
ROG Strix Z790 - e Gaming
G.SKILL Trident Z5 RGB Series DDR5 RAM 32GB (2x16GB)
Crucial T700 1TB Gen5 NVMe M.2 SSD

I'm not a rookie, but I'm not an engineer building a PC either. I use the PC to work (office work) and to play. I play Warzone and lately I started playing Star Wars The Fallen Order, but the problem I have is that in the games I don't feel like I have the fluidity I should have. I play in 2k, and with my setup I play at the highest quality possible, and the games are not fluid for me. I don't know if it's a computer configuration issue, graphics card configuration or what, but I don't feel like my computer is working well, could someone help me?

Star Wars The Fallen Order, known a bad port, but more importantly it's out when 4000 series where already here so 3000 were already one gen past for this game gen,on top of being badly optimised (or even developped btw).

it's 3090, not 3050, so "one gen past" doesn't matter still.

But it's the worst game exemple, even TLOU (that i hate but is everywhere) is nothing in comparison

Drivers updated? Checked temps with HWinfo64? XMP enabled in bios? Your setup should be more than enough for those games at 1440p.

i cheked everything, xmp its on xmp1.

i found a really rare solutions. when i open precision x1, the fps on the game goes really well, specially on tomb raider,

Is there any logical explanation for this solution?

but tomb raider is a 2013 game, how its possible that a game from 2013 works better than a game from 2019 (star wars)

I have seen a glitch with Precision X1 where if you have it open when you install the Nvidia drivers, it can cause some weird glitches and not clock properly. The fix was to uninstall Precision X1 and then run DDU to remove the Nvidia driver and GeForce Experience. You can install it all again, but you have to make sure PX1 is closed (and not running at all) whenever you do driver updates.

Apart from that issue, you can check with PX1 to see if the firmware is on the latest version. The firmware is still available on EVGA's forums also, if you want to try and make sure you have the latest installed (just find the right model and follow the instructions). It sounds like your card is not running the correct settings unless PX1 is open and forcing it with a profile, so you may want to just re-flash the firmware to make sure it's not corrupt somehow.

It's a poor ue4 port that has both traversal stutter and shader compilation stutter on PC best thing to do is cap your framerate to something like 60-80fps so that when it dips it doesn't dip hard.

The sequel is actually even worse no joke.

Download and install the free version of HWInfo. Run it in the background when you are gamming and see what your temps and voltages are, you might be throttling due to a heat or voltage issue.

Benchmark Scores I pulled a Qiqi~
1. HWiNFO to check for overheating and throttling
2. If present, open computer to clean, replace CPU or GPU thermal compound if necessary (it is possible that it may have pumped out due to thermal expansion and contraction), if not applicable; keep following
3. You're haphazardly using XMP. RAM test is in order. Your machine may not be fully stable. This is very likely if your memory kit is DDR5-6800 or faster, which require voltage adjustments for the SA and VDDQ
4. Software checklist. Update drivers if you're not running 556.12 or newer. Dump Precision X for in-game monitoring. EVGA is dead, treat their software accordingly. Use actively maintained software such as MSI Afterburner or NVIDIA's own overlay, and avoid having more than one overlay on at once, this includes Steam's, Action! recorder, Discord, etc.
5. It may be possible you're asking too much out of your 3090. It performs similar to the RTX 4070 vanilla, settings for that card tend to work well with the 3090. Sans DLSS-G, that is.
6. If all else fails, game is just ass and there is probably nothing you can do about it.

ps. Of course Tomb Raider runs maxed out with ease, it was already 7 years old when this very powerful graphics card released :kookoo:

Didn't Digital Foundry say there were frame pacing issues or some other performance problem with that one? Maybe try limiting the frame rates through drivers and see if that smooths things out a bit. High frame rates usually hide bad frame pacing but sometimes it makes it worse.
