Not sure how it happened but my VII quit working and does not show up in the motherboard PCIe BIOS "inventory". The slot is shown empty but any other board populating the slot shows up.
Looking at the board I spotted a charred contact: the 'hot plug" pin was somehow damaged. I have three of these AMD VII and have never been able to get any of them to work in any riser (x1..x8).
I am going to try some of that silver ink as I have no other way to repair that gold finger. I assume the problem is those pins. I scrapped off the charred metal.
Any idea what caused the problem in the first place? If the gold was peeled off when inserted possibly the "black" that I saw was just the underside of the peeled off gold and not anything charred?
