Hello, I have a problem with my old laptop.

I tried to increase the power limits by locking MMIO, but as you can see, MMIO is locked, and the 15-watt limit is still active :( What can I do?

Many laptops from the major manufacturers, Dell, HP, Acer, etc., use an embedded controller EC to enforce the 15W TDP power limit.

The EC power limit is separate from the MSR and MMIO power limits. ThrottleStop has no control over the EC power limits. Avoid buying devices with 15W CPUs if you need a more capable device than that.

Any tips how to unlock EC power limit? It is Acer a315-54 modded bios or something?

modded bios
That seems to be the only way to get around EC power limit throttling. Some users have modified the IMON Slope and IMON Offset variables. If you set IMON Slope to 50, this tells the CPU to report half as much power consumption compared to actual power consumption. Something like that might make a big difference. Instead of starting to power limit throttle at 15W, the CPU should be able to go as high as 30W before power limit throttling begins. It will be 30W actual but the CPU will only report half that amount, 15W. Temperatures and MHz should increase.

I am not sure what is possible for your Acer laptop. Do some Google searching and you might find another user with a similar laptop model that has already done this mod.

i'm trying to search for something before coming here, but I found nothing. I think it might be impossible for me to deal with this.
