Some people claim to get the stock [normal] performance out of AMD CPUs you absolutely need to fine tune them including and not limited to enabling PBO, using Curve Optimizer (CO), overclocking and tuning RAM timings, using AIO, etc.

If you're not an overclocker and you simply like to run things by default (sans RAM XMP/DOCP/EXPO which is not enabled by default), what your experience with AMD CPUs has been in terms of getting the performance similar to what reviewers post?

Would be nice to get comments why you couldn't reach the stock performance out of the box and what you changed/fixed/tuned in order to achieve it.

Got really good performance out of the box, a bit later I did the obvious and tweaked it a bit. Mostly just XMP, turning off RGB, and then using Ryzen Master with its curves. Haven't done fan curves but I'm currently fine with them.

I cannot post a poll in the existing thread. This thread is not for "issues", it's a poll about getting or not getting stock performance.

These are things covered in the Ryzen thread. The poll serves no helpful purpose.

1. You can safely ignore this part if you find it so repugnant.
2. It's extremely useful for me and lots of people who perpetrate lies about [AMD] CPUs.

You're OK to delete thread, I'm OK with reporting this to wizz, 'cause this poll does not infringe on any rules of these forums. It's not a dupe. Creating similar but not exactly the same threads is neither a sin nor a crime.

My stock 3900X got ~7300 in R20, I get the same with 105W PPT (PBO off) and -0.1v offset.

1. Be nice. There is no need to talk to him like that.
2. Who lies about CPU performance? That is super lame.

So, if someone got a CPU and never ever tweaked anything, how would they know whether they are getting this "stock" (how do you define that?) performance or not?

I am like this too - stock is only to make sure windows installed correctly.

AMD engineered the CPU so well that use it to enable XMp and have good cooling. If you want the CPU be at maximum performance, most actually comes from undervolting so it draws less power and less heat so the turbo hits the same level as before. If you have a water cooling setup that doesn't matter.

With early AGESA UEFI/BIOS stock performance I think I had the issues with not hitting boot clocks but that was eventually resolved.
