Power Supply for 160$

Hello. I’m in need to upgrade the PSU of my PC and I looked a lot at this site and others, but there is so much good looking options that I cannot choose one. I’m looking for 850W PSU under 160 bucks. About requirements, all I want it to be is modularity. So can be RGB, no RGB, like whatever. There are my options for now with prices below from lowest to highest, if someone would help me I would be glad:
-Cooler Master MWE GOLD V2(123$)
-FSP/Fortron VITA GM 850W(131$)
-NZXT C850 V2(144$)
-Thermaltake Toughpower GF 850W(144$)
-MSI MPG A850G(154$)
-XPG Core Reactor II 850W(157$)
I do not require high level of silence, just not something completely over the top. It will power Ryzen5 7600 and 7800XT for now with later on propably getting 8900XT or whatever it will be called. Also RMx Shift and Super Flowers which I saw highly rated here(Poland) are much more expensive, like 200 bucks. I am also opened to any other options you guys suggest and I would be happy with any help I can get.

I mean isn't brand generalization bad in PSU's? I heard that early Gigabyte PSUs were absolutely awful and now they have some solid models, while Seasonic while being overall really good, had some stinkers or at least mid options.

I did check this site out, but the amount of things here to check is just crazy, that's why I narrowed it to these 6. Also I saw this list is based on HWBusters tests and all of those are rather high on their list, while VITA GM review by him say he will add it to the best 850W ATX 3.x PSU list.

Out of all of those id say the Cooler Master MWE GOLD V2. The V1 had some issues but CM have gone out of their way to sort all that out and the V2 is a huge improvement.

Alternatively - there is a Seasonic GX-850 80+ Gold with a 120mm fan floating around that comes highly recommended. Its the little brother of the more expensive variant with a 135mm fan but It will still perform the same as its bigger brother.

Well, I note 850W may well be over the top.

Do you really need a new PSU right now? If not, and if you are sure you will be upgrading to the 8900 XTX, then I recommend you wait until more information about the 8900 XTX comes out and we learn more about its power requirements.

If you can wait until we learn more about the system requirements of the 8900 XTX, you might learn that, for YOUR system (your CPU, you RAM, your drives, your cooling plus the 8900 XTX) you my discover you can easily do with a 750W (or even less) PSU. And odds are and careful homework, you can buy a top quality 750W supply for the same money (or less) than a not quite at the top 850W supply.

To make sure you size the supply correctly and so we know what hardware we are talking about , please fill out your TPU System Specs.

The right way to determine the proper power supply size you need is to research all the components individually (motherboard, CPU, graphics, type and number of RAM sticks, type and number of drives, cooling devices and each connected USB device), determine their maximum power demand. Add those values up to get the minimum size supply you should get. But that takes a lot of time and work. So I recommend using a good PSU calculator and the best and only one I use and recommend is the eXtreme OuterVision PSU Calculator. This will calculate your minimum needs and recommend a suitable size for those needs. It will also recommend a suitable size UPS!

Plug in all your components. Be sure to plan ahead and include all the hardware you think you might add in 2 or 3 years (extra drives, bigger or second video card, more RAM, etc.).

While not necessary, I generally recommend setting CPU utilization to 100% and Computer Utilization Time to 16 hours per day. These settings will help compensate for component aging, and add a little extra padding to the results. This typically results in a little cooler and quieter operation. I hate fan noise so quieter is always better in my book, as long as adequate cooling is not compromised.

Note that no calculator wants to recommend a PSU that is underpowered so they all pad the results, some more than others. Graphics card recommendations and the calculators provided by the PSU makers tend to pad the results more than non-affiliated calculators. PSU makers have the added incentive to recommend larger supplies for bigger profit margins.

The eXtreme OuterVision calculator is independent of those manufacturers and the most conservative. And that's a good thing! This occurs because it is the most flexible and has the most extensive databases of available options you can enter. This allows it to factor in all possible components to much more accurately (and realistically) calculate our needs, rather than guess and assume and add even more padding to ensure they never underestimate.

I note the 8900 XTX is not yet in their databases but you can be sure it will be soon.

It won't hurt anything if you go "over the top" except your budget. But when budgets are limited, it makes sense to spend it wisely and buy what you "need" and not more than you need.

The XT is just the scaled down model for people who want a flagship but can't pay for one. This generation, the XTX and XT were 10% in price and 15% apart in performance. A really, really bad deal, unless purchased on a sale with an appropriate discount.

Also at this point in time, everything and anything about RDNA 4 is to be considered purely speculative. I don't think anything is final, we just have MLID "leaks" to go by and the fact that AMD seems to have admitted early on that it will not be competitive with Nvidia's Blackwell microarchitecture in performance and that this is not their aim with this particular generation. It'll be Intel's Battlemage vs. RDNA 4, with the GeForce cards being positioned as a premium alternative.

Unless that thing is an indescribable flop, I think it'll be on the power efficient side, given it's not really going to be developed for all-out performance.

Also I just added my PC build do the TPU as I am a newbie and didn't know there was this section, so thank youa and did the thing with the PSU calculator and with 7900XT as for now it shows 555W and I thing I added everything I would need. So with this, should I maybe move to better tier of 750W PSU's?

Sure.

That said, while 10 years old is pretty old, that does not mean it is about to fail. If your computer is not having unexplained problems now, like sudden reboots, freezes, or shutdowns, and if you are planning on upgrading your graphics card in the future, if me, I would buy both a new PSU and card at the same time. That way I can be sure I am getting the supply my card (and the rest of my hardware) needs.

Most leaks indicate that there won't be any high-end RX 8000-series GPUs at all.
The fastest is likely to be something called either RX 8800 XT or RX 8800 XTX, and is expected to be slower than the RX 7900 XTX.

Yes, Focus GX is an option (check my rig). On the brand generalization - I meant quality power supplies, not those in the 30-40$.
