PowerColor today launched its flagship graphics card, the Radeon RX 6800 XT Red Devil. This gargantuan triple-slot, triple-fan graphics card is for maximum ventilation and cooling for the RX 6800 XT. It features a chunky aluminium fin-stack heatsink, a thin aluminium fin-stack heatsink that bares much of its metal through the sides of the card, and a trio of 90-100 mm fans with independent control.

The card uses a 16-phase VRM that pulls power from a pair of 8-pin PCIe power connectors. There are plenty of RGB embellishments across the card, in the form of six long silicone diffusers that run the length of the card, finishing off at the tail end like air-guides. The back-plate features an illuminated Red Devil logo. Display connectivity is same as reference—two DisplayPorts, an HDMI, and a USB-C. Other features include additional ARGB headers, and dual-BIOS. The company didn't reveal clock speeds, pricing, or availability.

Which is not a real problem anymore, nowadays real problem is availability of newly released hardware. Until it will become really available in stock you will save up money to buy it.

Yeap. Had money to buy a card today. Sold out before I hit the pay now and I don't expect to see stock till next year.

So I used my saved money to pay off any additional debt I had.

I think the entire world is being turned upside down. I have the cash and wanna buy the card but the problem is these are nowhere to be found for purchase. I know it's been one day only but still bummer. Maybe in a few weeks time but I promised myself, if I can't buy a new graphics this year (for whatever reason, not money reason) I'm boycotting this crap and will not purchase anything till the companies learn to deliver and secure the market. I'm kinda tired of this.

I'll just go back to buying used cards to make more cheap gaming builds to sell.

I was aiming to do new builds but nah, most cant afford them here and new parts are ridiculously overpriced.

Been thinking about it as well. Just go for the used cards and call it a day. The prices and availability is just ridiculous at this point. I'm trying to lay off of the companies looking for a good reason to justify, why they are not supplying their products in time but I'm done. They are to blame for this and nobody else in my opinion.

Holy hell! I hope the shroud is made of plastic cause damn I don’t wanna know how much it weighs if it’s made of metal. Looks almost like 2mm thick on the front while a thinnner on the backplate.

I am not sure how smart the bots systems work these days but if the companies like AMD and Nvidia simply told the sellers to use some kind of purchase authentication system (captcha mixed with email confirmation) then I assume it becomes a complicated task for the bots and thus more cards would be available.

Everyone saying that "it isn't in Amd and Nvidia's best interest to sell to bots" is I think fooling themselves because in the end, a sold card is a sold card regardless who purchased it. Like with mining back a year or two ago.

It's not like they weren't aware of the problem anyway.

Sure it is in their interest. The scalpers buy first and that still leaves others to buy these too. for the companies it is a win win.

Well, yeah, I guess I didn't see it that way. I mean, they sell no matter what but yeah, there is a potential for much more afterwards if the scalpers buy up everything and people with patience simply wait to buy when more are released.

Still though, it isn't like this issue wasn't preventable. They chose not to prevent it from happening.

I have to agree, gives people time to save up for sure. I heard that Board partners will be releasing these cards sometime next week.
Correct me if I am wrong, read this somewhere, think it was wccftech or fudzilla or Guru3D.:D

You aren't wrong in that Nov 25th is around the time the AIB's will release them. But what will be the chances we will be able to get any? Same with 3070/80/90 AIB's issue.

I hear that as well. Some of the reviewers claimed that they will get AIB cards next week for reviews so it would be the date of the release as well but the availability is still an unknown.

I hope it won't be the same as with the 3000 NV series with availability. These have scheduled availability for January 25th in my area. So for me NV cards are all out. Now if AMD wants my money they have time till the end of December. I mean, even if AMD get the stock in January that would've been better still than what NV has offered to the customers like us with availability.

Selling GPU to a bot means no return business.
Selling GPU to a real user means you might also sell additional components.

Trust me, it matters to AMD and Nvidia, since both in majority are using retailers to sell their GPU's.

As for mining - sure it looked nice as a short term scheme but do you remember the amount of sh... they received from their investors for it later? "Gamers are buying 20 gpu's, market is booming" "Say what?".

I see your point but with the demand (as others claim) sold product is a sold product. The company wants these to get from shelves and if that happens it is a profit.
As you can see, all the cards are gone or nowhere to be found and yet the demand is still growing. People are eager to buy any card now and they will wait till the opportunity presents itself to get one. Why would the bot purchase meant no return business? The card is sold and cash flow is there. AMD gets the cut no matter who buys the card.

Steve explains it the best:
AMD & Nvidia = more market share from real users
Retailers = return business, additional components purchased together with GPU.

Steve explains it the best:
AMD & Nvidia = more market share from real users

I understand the point and it is true, but in my eyes, it only applies if the scalpers where to get all the products or a huge batch of it and these are limited edition or limited release. Not limited to a specific time frame but in general, limited number of cards like limited car edition Ferrari for instance. The company wants to sell it to variety of users and they wouldn't want one person getting 10 or 20 of these cars. In the case of graphics cards that is not the true. They will keep producing the cards over and over and sell them. This also concludes one thing if this scalping won't benefit AMD or a retailer/etailer. It will benefit since they are selling these cards and get cash for it. They sell these to whoever wants it. Scalpers get it and it doesn't change a thing because sooner or later the customers will get it and the benefit for AMD to get the cards to user like us will be fulfilled but mean time they will already sell buttload of products. Delayed but fulfilled and they will hog all the benefits that come with it. So I understand Steve's explanation very well. We all probably do. I'm not sure that is the case here. Look at NV cards. Scheduled for next year where I live and yet if they come out millions of people will buy them anyway. People buy them even now knowing that the price is skyhigh and yet they still do it.
Question also is do you believe that the availability situation is mostly because of scalping or is it rather simple supply issue since the companies didn't prepare any stock at the release? ( for whatever reason)?

If the demand is so high (and it is) and scalpers hog all the cards via bots. They need to pay for these anyway according to MSRP price in a country. (+tax%, customs, whatever you call it). Immediately after they have the cards they would resell them for a higher price to get profit right? That's what scalping basically is and some people here in this forum, claimed that there are people living off of scalping. So the sooner the scalper gets the card(cards) put it for resell for a higher price than better for them.
Since you are from Poland and you have your own ebay like website (allegro.pl) look there and see how many cards since 6000 series launch is there now for sell. Exactly 5 cards rx6800 (one of the dudes is selling 2) most of them from PowerColor. So if the supply is so great and the scalpers bot'ed all the cards where are they? Are they waiting for the Black Friday to sell these? That doesn't make sense.
Any thoughts about that?

Just to add. I looked over few most common Polish computer selling sites and guess what, the 6000 series cards are not even listed yet.

nice looking card !
not too many leds just what is needed.
the third fan is blowing half out of the radiator. I guess they keep AMD's vapor chamber which would be a good thing given the perf results seen yesterday. // correction : 7 heatpipes..so no vapor chamber. looking forward to see the reviews

very tempting card.

Always liked the RED Devil cards :) I see PowerColor has made some changes in the design.

I loved the 5700 xt RED DEVIL but one thing I hope they fix is that the RGB is all separate won't sync with MB. Other than that it is a BEAST for mid range.
