Hi,

I would like to know what type of screws are used to build PSU case. Need to know exact type which is not only comparable but also have flat head. Ebay link where to find them (black ones) is also OK

I have tried to search it on google and ebay but I was able to found data only about screws used to mount PSU in case.

Many thanks

I'd bet case fan screws would probably work.

As with anything like this, the smartest way to do it is remove one of them, go to a hardware store and match it. or you could contact superflower & ask them

Those are not the mounting screws so there is no industry standard you could simply look up. It just depends on what the manufacturer of that PSU decided to use.

You need to remove one screw and take it to a good, local hardware store (one that sells individual parts out of bins) and compare.

I bet case fan screws are the wrong ones. Fan screws have big "cutting" threads with fewer threads per inch. Those are more likely fine threads with more per inch. Using the wrong screws will result is small metal filings falling about - not good in live electronics. Especially where deadly voltages exist like inside a power supply.

Find the correct screws or abandon this project. BTW, there really should be no need to open that case. And did you notice the "WARRANTY VOID IF REMOVED" sticker covering the 4th screw?

Yes I noticed the sticker :D

I have tried local hardware stores but they didn't had anything like that. The only one thing they said was "too small" - screws in the shop was bigger.

Actually most PSU uses same type of screws. Maybe some of them are different but majority uses same type of screws. I believe that they should be available on ebay or similar store but I can't find right one.

yea, the yare often pretty similar. ive used the fan screws to replace a missing one from the PSU fan, and noticed the others were the same, but this was a corsair PSU. but i too have noticed many are similar.

"Similar" don't make it. You cannot put a 10tpi (threads per inch) screw in an 8tpi hole. A screw that is just 1mm longer could short something out. Same "type" of screws is not the same thing as exact same size and shape.

Newegg currently has over 600 different supplies on sale right now, just in this country. No way anyone can say they use the same size screws - except for the 4 mounting screws because those, and only those, are dictated by the ATX form factor standard.

Most supplies might use the same "type" and "size", but it should not be assumed. I say go find a broken supply somewhere and cannibalize from it. But do not assume any two use the same screws or you could very well strip out the hole.
