Running the ZFS-based QuTS hero operating system, the GM-1000 focuses on data integrity and features powerful block-level inline data deduplication and compression. Near-limitless snapshots, real-time SnapSync, and many more business-oriented features are also included to achieve reliable service-level agreement performance and Big Data storage.

"The GM-1000 features a unique dual-NAS architecture that delivers cost-efficient and space-saving advantages, ideal for offloading services between the two NAS nodes or running cross backup," said David Tsao, Product Manager of QNAP, adding "Its ZFS storage and performance makes it perfect for massive file storage, virtualization, and post-production with outstanding reliability and cost-effectiveness."

The GM-1000 consists of two independent TNS-h1083X NAS nodes that use Intel Xeon E multi-core processors with up to 128 GB server-grade DDR4 ECC memory. Each NAS node provides abundant 10 GbE/2.5 GbE ports and built-in M.2 and U.2 SSD slots for cache acceleration, effectively tackling performance bottlenecks of applications that require high-bandwidth and low-latency (such as business intensive backup and virtualization). Two PCIe slots are included for extending core NAS functionality, for example, adding 10GbE/25GbE/40GbE network cards, QM2 cards to add M.2 SSDs, and QXP or SAS expansion cards for connecting QNAP expansion enclosures. By installing QNAP Fibre Channel (FC) cards, the GM-1000 can be added to existing FC SAN environments to make a budget-friendly storage or backup solution.

Powered by the ZFS-based QuTS hero, the GM-1000 supports data integrity and self-healing, and provides multiple RAID configurations with Triple Parity and Triple Mirror to enhance data protection. Up to 1 PB capacity for individual shared folders is supported, enabling enterprises to tackle storage-demanding applications including Big Data analysis, edge computing, and AI. For data reduction, powerful inline data deduplication, compression, and compaction significantly reduces the overall storage footprint - especially helpful for increasing SSD storage efficiency when highly-repetitive data or massive small files are generated, while improving both random write performance and SSD lifespan. QuTS hero supports near-unlimited snapshots and versioning for enhanced data protection. The advanced block-based real-time SnapSync ensures that the primary NAS and the secondary NAS always keep the same data, providing the strongest support for nonstop business operations.

The inclusive App Center provides multiple install-on-demand apps to further expand the application potential of the GM-1000, such as hosting virtual machines and containers, simplifying local/remote/cloud backups, setting up a cloud storage gateway to deploy hybrid cloud applications, cross-device and cross-team file synchronization, and much more.
