Heya.

Since im buying a new monitor in a month from now i was wondering about something.

I currently do have an 27" 1080p va monitor with hdr400 and unofficial g-sync.
Im switching to a 27" 1440p QD-Oled monitor with hdr400 true black and unofficial g-sync.

I know the 1440p has more PPI, but i was wondering: If i set the resolution of my games back from 1440p to 1080p on the new monitor, do they look as good then as that they are looking now on my 1080p screen?

I mean, my logic would say cause theyre both 27" screens, that the difference should be minimal if gaming on 1080p on that new screen, just because of the same sizes of both monitors.

Am i correct in this regard?

Thanks in advance!

No, 1440p isn't an integer multiple of 1080p, it will look terrible (1440p = 1080p x 1.33). It would look better if it was a 2160p screen showing a 1080p picture as there are 4 native pixels to show a single 1080p pixel.

Yeah i think it would look more blurry and just seem off mostly since the pixels dont kinda line up properly.

So in this case, since 27" monitors that are 4k are rare and expensive, my best bet to get decent fps is to crank up the frame gen and dlss a bit more then?

I mean, maybe im a bit too much "used" now to having high fps with my 4070 ti super, but i still remembering the days where my 2070 was really outdated netting me fps of around 40-45 ingame.

But hey, i do have a 4070ti super with a ryzen 7 5800x3d, so i still, especially with dlss and frame gen, should get decent fps in most, if not all games for a couple of years to come isnt it?

27" 4K IPS is not very rare here. 27" 4K OLED though...

You have a 4070TiSuper, if you're fine with turning up DLSS it's pretty okay for 4K IMO.
But if you are very minded in FPS I'm not going to push for a 4K monitor.

For the sake of open minded discussion I'd place resolution lower than overall focus on what the best 27" monitor ish screen currently available is. Might be instructive.

Aye, i was looking for it, and found out that 27" 4k oleds almost don't exist at all.
But indeed, i most likely will be fine with my gpu for a couple of years to come.

As for @nomdeplume
I have looked for it for a couple of months already, and it seems to me that the Gigabyte aorus fo27q2 is the best bang for the buck here in the netherlands:

I know that one is its bigger brother the q3, but its exactly the same with the only difference is that the q3 has a higher refresh rate, and some rgb at the back.
I mailed gigabyte about it, and they confirm it as well.

And since the q2 only costs 600 euro's here in the netherlands, i think its the best monitor that you can buy with such low amount of money

Must've had this search for a 27" 4K in mind. Ended up watching a string of hilarious videos reviewing "best 27" monitor available" the 55" Samsung Odyssey Ark.
